    Why and how is it so popular :confused: ? Is it due to the fact that it's so cheesy with a guy in a trench coat dancing, guys jumping off fences, guys doing splits in the air, etc.? Sure I've made my own Rick Rolling sites (here) but I don't get it really.

    Rick: From his name Rick Astley, of course.

    Roll: During the video, while he is rocking side to side, he does that odd wiggle/changing of directions very quickly. That was interpretted as a roll. Sometimes he does the roll sign with his arms at the same time. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, look at the video a few times. You'll know it when you see it.

    At least that's where I believe it came from. Never got a definitive answer, but what I thought made complete sense. :cool:

    I can't tell if you're serious about these questions but if so...Counterstrike is an FPS game branching off of the Half Life series.

    "Rick" because his name is Rick Astley. "Rolling" because there used to be something called "duck rolling," sending you to a picture of a photoshopped duck with wheels on it. Basically served the same purpose of the rick roll.

    Alliteration is always extremely popular. People just like the way it sounds. You can probably think of a million examples.

    From dictionary.com- the commencement of two or more words of a word group with the same letter, as in apt alliteration's artful aid.
