beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT !!!!!!! This concludes the public service announcement. Whew...... I feel better already p.s. Don't even get me started on tail gaters
Every time I see one of these posts, I'm sure to do the minimum speed in the fast lane on the way home. I'm aware of the courtesy but I'll be damned if I let you tell me to move. You do your driving and I'll do mine.
That's good an dandy, but assuming we cant get the people who drive fast to slow down to the speed limit, you driving slow in the left lane is just as dangerous, putting yourself and others in dangers way.
I was in a rush once and it was a 55 zone and the guy was sitting in front of me going like 58 or something and I couldnt fully pass him in the right lane but he could have gotten over so I got close to him and then flashed my lights and he waived to me and slowed down WTF I mean does that old guy want to get his ass kicked or something. I thought about following him but he was going to god damn slow!
Someone I know got a call at work a few weeks ago from his wife. Their five-year-old daughter had stopped breathing and had to be rushed to the ER. He had to leave work and meet up with his wife as quickly as he possibly could. I am assuming this involved driving 80-90 mph in the far left lane. Moral of the story: don't assume you know the other driver's motivations for speeding.
I'm a believer in the George Carlin philosophy of driving. Anyone who drives slower than me is a timid driver. Anyone who drives faster than me is a reckless driver. I'm the only good driver on the road.
Here's what bugs me though. My parents live near Beaumont and I used to live in Houston, so I'm pretty familiar with the stretch of I-10 between Houston and Beaumont, and this used to happen to me all the time while making that drive: I'd be cruising between 75 and 80 in the left lane. Nobody in sight, in front or behind. Suddenly, some jerk in a Corvette or Firebird or some such comes up behind me so fast that I never notice him in my rear-view until he flashes his lights at me. I guess he's going at least 90, probably a lot faster. My question is, since the right lane is wide open, and he could see that as soon as I came into his view, why doesn't he just change lanes. Yeah, I probably shouldn't be in the left lane, but if you're breaking the speed limit that badly, you shouldn't have the gall to expect me get out of your way. Especially when you wouldn't even have to slow down to go around me.
