Matt Jackson doesn't do sports radio. Sports radio does Matt Jackson.

So is the logic as follows?

if Hou, Jazz, San, and Pho all have 55 wins:

    1) remove Jazz b/c they are div champs
    2) break 3-way tie to find the 4th top for seed (Phoenix is the winner)
    3) use 3-way tie breaker to order the 3 tied teams (Suns, Rockets, Jazz)
    4) Re-order top 4 by record (1-Lakers, 2-Hornets, 3-Jazz b/c head to head victories over Suns, 4-Suns)
    5) top 4 was separated and reordered but bottom 4 does not change so 3-way tie uses puts Houston over San Antonio at 5.

    I guess that makes sense.
The rule changes of 2007 made the top 4 seeding a separate thing was determined who the top 4 was.

Scribo, Cannon, and I were wrong because we thought that separating and reordering the top 4 also meant doing the same to the bottom 4, but it doesn't mean that. The bottom 4 is left in the same order using a 3 or 4 or 5 way tie breaker, but the top 4 is reordered.

This means the if the Suns were 2-1 vs the Jazz instead of vice versa, than the Suns would be #3 and the Jazz would be seed #4 in the above scenario.

I think that's how it works, something that satisfies both the 2007 rule changes and the tie breaker system.

    Rockets basically got homecourt LOCKED

Basically we are playing for who we play. Assuming Suns can win at home vs. Portland and Houston can win at home vs. Clippers.

    2 Scenarios:

    1) Spurs win + Rockets win = Rockets 5th seed but homecourt vs. Jazz
    Seeds:
    3) Spurs
    4) Jazz
    5) Rockets
    6) Suns

    2) Spurs lose + Rockets Win + Suns Win (home vs. Portland)
    Seeds:
    3) Jazz
    4) Rockets
    5) Suns
    6) Spurs

So I am feeling pretty good about actually getting homecourt, hopefully we can use that to get out of 1st round :D.

How funny would it be if the league somehow messed up the seedings but nobody noticed until teams had already started playing?

    Oops :)

This web site leads me to believe we can only have HCA in the first two scenarios:

    http://www.nba.com/news/playoff_scenarios_080416.html

    3. If Utah wins and Phoenix loses:
    3-Utah
    4-San Antonio
    5-Houston
    6-Phoenix

In that case, we won, but we don't get HCA.

I don't think what's on that page helps because it does not address multiple-way ties that involve both division winners and non-division winners.
