Who's your all time team of players that never won a title? The following criteria apply. The player must either a) Be retired b) Have at least 15 years in the NBA So, no Kevin Garnett or Steve Francis. Also, former players that won titles as coaches are eligible 1st team: C: Patrick Ewing F: Karl Malone F: Charles Barkley G: George Gervin G: John Stockton 2nd team (aka the Rockets homer team): C: Nate Thurmond F: Alex English F: Rudy Tomjanovich G: Pete Maravich G: Calvin Murphy
Elgin Baylor has to be the starting small forward. Dominque Wilkins should be on there somewhere as well.
Bah, why put that one-dimensional dunker in over people who actually had all-round games? He was a good player, but I don't see anyone on that list I'd replace for him.
Haven, I'm sure you're just being flippant, but are you talking about The Human Highlight Reel? He had great range and could score from anywhere on the floor. He was definitely a good dunker but far from one-dimensional. That is unless a 'one-dimensional' player means only offensive or defensive (one of those two dimensions of the game). And if that's the case what about Barkley's horrific defense?
Uhhhh what? Wilkins was a 24.8 career ppg scorer. He averaged 6.7 boards as a SF. Had scoring averages of 30.7, 30.3, and 29.9. 26,668 career points (9th on the all time list) man, that sure is a lot of dunks.
I thought about putting Dominique on the second team, but that would have meant leaving off Rudy or Calvin! I thought Elgin Baylor won a title. On the basketball Hall of Fame website, it said he retired in 1972, the year the Lakers won 69 games and the NBA title...Of course, I didn't read his bio where it said he retired nine games into that season...(If anybody has a "banging head against the table" smilie, this would be a nice time for it)
