When you wear a collared short sleeve golf/polo type shirt, do you wear an undershirt or not?

I do mostly because it gives the shirts a longer life and keeps them from getting pit-stains, but my wife is always giving me **** about it and wanting me to wear them without an undershirt.

So what is the standard protocol?

Standard protocol is that you stand up and be a man and tell her that you will decide what you wear under your shirt.....damnit.

I'll ask the wife when I get home. ;)

I always wear an undershirt under every shirt regardless if it is a polo, sweater, or even t-shirt.

This is HILARIOUS. I was just talking with my office mate about this the SECOND before I logged on.

We work in an office environment where we have to wear dress shirts all the time. Just yesterday I decided to go no undershirt to give it a shot. It's awesome. Feels and looks better. However, I'm sure, as the OP stated, it's shortening shirt life expectancy.

In terms of polos etc., it depends on the number of polos you're wearing. [IMG]

I used to when everyone else started doing it (seems like about 20 years ago people started doing this, could be wrong), but I never understood what the point was. Whenever I see someone with a visible shirt on underneath their shirt, I always wonder why they need to wear two shirts. If I actually need a shirt on underneath for some reason, I wear either a v-neck or a wife beater so you can't see it.

I don't know about you guys, but I live in Texas on the gulf coast, and this mofo gets HOT. No undershirts for me unless I'm wearing a really thin light colored button-down shirts.

I'll wear a wifebeater if I look in the mirror before I leave and can visibly see my nips. Otherwise, no go.

I wear them under everything regardless of what kind of clothing.

I have a lot of t-shirts that itch my nipples without an undershirt and it just feels more comfortable If I wear one.

@ work under dress shirt - Yes
@ work under Polo - Yes

not @ work under Polo - No

Even though the undershirts are thin, I think Polos look a little better without the undershirt, but it seems like everyone wears the undershirt @ work. For dress shirts, sometimes you need it if the dress shirt is a thin broadcloth.

If the shirt has buttons, I'll wear an undershirt.
