    They suck!

    Let's take the ESPN/USA Today Coach's poll:

    1) How can Texas not be ranked! Crazy. Not only are they not ranked, but Texas Tech received more votes! UT beat Tech on their own floor, and I think Tech lost to at least one "nobody" team, Sam Houston or something like that. Texas has beaten no. 11 on the road, no. 14, is 4-0 in the Big 12, and 2 of their 4 losses are to ranked teams (Gonzaga and Arizona).

    2) What is a team with 7 losses (Iowa) doing in the poll? That's just ridiculous. I don't care who they beat/lost to, 13-7 is just inexcusable, as far as rankings go. The 16th-ranked team has lost 5 games!

    3) Oklahoma St. at no. 11? Overrated, big time. They're 2-3 in the Big 12! They've lost 3 times, Texas 4, Tech 3, however both Tech and Texas beat them, and OSU is no. 11? Huh?

That's all for now, these rankings are just puzzling. We need a college basketball BCS!

Funny thing is that Texas Tech has more votes than we do, even though we beat them head-to-head on the road, and have played a tougher schedule.

The other funny thing is we will probably get ranked at #25 or so this coming week when we get to 15-4 (?). Then we will lose to OU the next week and be out of the polls forever again.

The funniest thing is that even if we get into the polls, we close with @OU, Tech, OSU, @Missou, and Kansas (not in that order), so we may not be ranked after that hell anyway.

That's the pessimistic outlook, though. I still think we can go 13-3 in conference and be 2nd in the Big 12 (behind Kansas).

We did sneak in to the AP at #24, so we should be inside the top 20 once we hit the tough stretch in the schedule. I'm really excited about the stretch run. There will be some great games. Kansas will be tough, but we do have them in Austin, so we've got that going for us. I'll be happy if we can just split with Oklahoma.

I'm with you guys, though. The coaches voting in that poll must have their heads up their a**es.

I don't think that is the only words that explain the situation. Texas Tech has not been ranked in the top 25 in either poll all year so I don't think there is a huge bias towards Tech. I agree that UT winning at Lubbock was huge and they deserve to be ranked ahead of Tech (as they are in the AP).

A possible reason why they have Tech ahead of UT is the whuppin' Tech put to then #6 Ok. St.

Tech didn't have more votes in the Coaches poll last week.

It was only after this week, the week in which Texas defeated Tech, that Texas was leapfrogged in the polls by the Red Raiders.

The Coaches poll is a joke anyway, I don't think most people take the time to really think their votes through.

Tech beat then #6 OSU pretty easily the other night. And the Tech UT game went to overtime..... It wasnt a blowout.

Close wins against ranked teams (I dont know how close the games UT won against ranked teams were) dont carry as much weight for college hoops I guess.

Tech's win vs OSU was at home, and they lost to UT at home. UT beat OSU (barely) on the road and Stanford on a neutral court.

That said, I think they both deserve to be ranked right now. The Big 12 is looking good in the RPI's though:

    #1 Kansas
    #4 Oklahoma
    #6 Texas
    #10 Okie State (why, I don't know)
    #18 Tech

The way the Horns played tonight maybe they don't belong in top 25.

Unlike College Football, polls in College Basketball don't mean s*it!

After all, they decide their champion on the court/field with the Big Dance aka March Madness. Wow! What a concept...too bad that College Football can't fall into line.

Absolutely not...nearly the equivalent of losing to Baylor at home in football.

A lot of streaks came to an end tonight :(

    1) Last loss to A&M before tonight: 1994 (16 straight wins from 94-01)

    2) Last loss to A&M in Austin before tonight: 1987

    3) Last loss to a Texas school before tonight: 1998 (28 straight wins from 98-02).

From these stats, you'd think Texas dominated:

    Turnovers - Aggies: 25; Texas: 9

    Fouls Committed - Aggies: 29; Texas: 20

    Steals: Aggies: 1; Texas: 13

Shots Taken: Aggies: 42; Texas: 67

Free Throws Taken: Aggies: 27; Texas: 35

    **** happens.

Duke lost to a bad Florida St team(Don't start, Duke is much better than Texas, but Florida St is much better than Texas A&M).

The Longhorns couldn't hit the ocean from the beach, they got relatively open looks, just didn't connect. Its something I really haven't seen any other time this year, so I'm not too concerned, if this repeats itself for another game or two - thats when I become worried.

Its a ****ty loss, but we couldn't beat the Aggies forever, they had to stumble bass-ackwards into a win versus us sometime.

If the rankings were fair, Texas shouldn't be ranked after this loss (nor should many other teams that are currently ranked). However, it was a lucky win for A&M. They played way over their heads.

I cannot believe my eyes. When I saw A&M won, I thought the paper was wrong or something. I also agree with TheFreak in that A&M played out of their minds. Every team stumbles, even the best (Duke lost to FSU, KU lost to UCLA, Ball State). This does not change my thinking of UT much, I still think they are the 4th, maybe 3rd best team in the Big 12.

Also, did you see the Iowa State- KU game last night? I still think Iowa State is way underrated in the Big 12, I think they are at least as good as Texas Tech...
Does anyone know when UT and OU play?
