Teen Arrested for New York School Shooting Friday, January 18, 2002 NEW YORK — The teen-ager believed to be the gunman in Tuesday's shooting at Manhattan's Martin Luther King Jr. High School was arrested early Friday, police said. Vincent Rodriguez was taken into custody at his Upper West Side home at about 3 a.m., said police spokesman Sgt. Ralph Carone. It was the morning of his 18th birthday. The charges against Rodriguez were pending, Carone said. Two students, Andre Wilkins, 15, and Andrel Napper, 17, were injured in the shooting. Both were shot on the school's fourth floor near the end of the school day. Rodriguez, a freshman student at the school with a history of truancy, is the boyfriend of the female student believed to have been involved in a dispute with the two victims. A police source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Thursday that the dispute between the girl and the two victims occurred two weeks ago, when the victims allegedly ripped a bandanna off the girl's head. Police continued to investigate how a gun was brought into the school, which is equipped with metal detectors and safety officers. According to the United Federation of Teachers, the shooting was the first inside a city public school since September 1994.
Maybe he just immigrated to the U.S. I say he forgets about his education, since he's so far behind, and just work at a priveledged country club.
