Most looking forward to is Cut Copy, Handsome Furs, Mark Kozelek and Jens Lekman. The Whigs, Born Ruffians, The Whigs, The Hourly Radio, Tokyo Police Club, MGMT, Yeasayer, Tacks the Boy Disaster, Lykke Li are also on my must see list.

My buddy took some videos of SXSW in 2007 that he posted on Youtube. Some individual club shows.

But around SXSW time, every major music publication will have some video on their website, as they send a full fleet of reporters and media to this event.

Its great fun. Quite possibly the best music festival in the world.

 

The festival is in theory a showcase of new talent, emerging artists who really haven't made it that big as yet. Some of the artists are superstars in the indie community, but not mainstream.

Thus you won't see many established artists out there, unless they have taken a prolonged career break and are getting back into the scene once again.

But on the whole, there is lack of hip hop, funk, dance, bluegrass, country and some other genres.
