my computer just fried.

    it went off while restarting. now it won't start at all. is that just a power source failure? or other things may cause it too? i built the computer about a year and half ago. thanks.

    1) Unplug the power cord. Wait 30 seconds.
    2) Throw it out the window
    2b) Ignore step 2
    2c) Find power switch near power supply on the back of your PC. Make sure it's still on.
    If it's on, flip it off, then on again.
    If it's off, flip it on.
    3) Plug the power cord back in.
    4) Try again



    When you attempt to power it back on again, do you get any lights/whirring of the HD/fans/beep?

    blah. i fixed it. i took out the power source unit in the box. found a spare one laying around. popped that sucker in. i am back on now :) hopefully this one doesn't break on me :)

    Better be safe and back up all of your data. Bad power supplies can lead to hard drive failure.

    ya, i had a couple that failed on me before. these days, i keep an external drive that i sync on weekly basis. :)
