I need a little help (on english)

    me and a couple friends (none of us speak english as first language) are debating whether "running the ball more" means,
    1, when 2 pgs on court, player are playing at a quicker speed, more running, higher tempo
    or
    2, when tmac not playing, players share the ball, everyone gets to touch the ball more often.

    I would really appreciate some opinino from people with better english skills or just native speakers to help us better understand the meanning of that phrase.

    It means pushing the ball more, looking for more fast break opportunities, and playing at a faster tempo. He mentions #2 as well but "running the ball" means #1.
