i'll be there the first weekend of february. thinking about checking out the Acme Oyster House since i saw it on the food channel. anyone ever been there? is it as good as advertised? any other recommendations for eating and site seeing?
I've been to Nola many times, as recently as this past weekend. While the more expensive places are good; Nola, K-Pauls, etc, some of my best meals were in hole on the wall places. If you love poboys (and who doesn't?) you MUST visit Johnny Poboys. If you don't like your poboy, I'll contribute to the tipjar in your name. Also, Cafe Du Monde seems to be under new mgmt, and well, it saddens me to say, but it kinda sucks now. But still, if you've never been, might as well do the tourist thing and try some. Lastly, some of the best gumbo will be found at the Gumbo Shop. Best of luck and enjoy. Don't forget to visit Harrah's.
Bourbon St. the last weekend of Mardi Gras is effing crazy. Holy crap! My eyes --> This was pre-Katrina.
Since you mentioned Mardi Gras I will give you some cliche and juvinile advice: Don't forget reasonably unique plastic beads and a digital camera.
