What's the deal with Glen Rice's injury? Is he going to be back any time soon? I know he wasn't doing well when he got hurt, but I still feel like he could be a good contributer for the Rockets.
Ask, and you shall receive. Chronicle Notes Forward Glen Rice, who has been out since Dec. 8 with a sore right knee and on the injured list since Dec. 18, stepped up his workouts to include some weight-bearing exercises, though no timetable has been established for his return. Team physicians will examine Rice on Thursday to determine how much progress has been made on the frayed edges of the tendon attached to his right kneecap, and possibly to establish a plan for Rice's return. If Rice has made enough progress, a second magnetic resonance imaging test could be scheduled to see if further rehabilitation will be enough for Rice to resume playing, or if surgery is necessary. "I'm hoping they say I can start pushing it, to work harder," Rice said. "I've been fighting that urge. "This is the longest I've ever been out in my career. My entire career, maybe I missed as many games as I've missed this season. But hopefully, I can come back with that explosion and the pop I had." Rice has missed 13 of the Rockets' 31 games. He missed 23 games in the 1999 season, seven last season and a total of just 22 in his other 10 seasons combined. According to my math, Rice has missed 65 games in his career, 13 of them this year so far. That's 20% of his career missed games, and climbing. Also in the above article, Kevin Willis explains his two techs, and says he was just trying to do his job. (I guess his job description includes disrupting all offensive flow, and bobbling passes and rebounds.) Collier also talks about playing.
