by the name of papa grows funk playing at the continental club.... doors at 10. these guys are awesome.
Nights like this I hate living out in the sticks and actually caring about drinking and driving. Miss me some good live music.
saw Leo Nocentelli and George Porter play with a couple other folks last jazz fest at the howlin' wolf in NO..... absolutely AWESOME. still have tons of photos from that show... maybe i'll post them sometime. and yes, they're like galactic before they started getting all hip-hop/funk hybrid.
I saw them at Voodoo fest last year. They even shared the stage with RHCP for a bit. I was five rows back. That made my weekend (And RHCP worth seeing). <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/U422nSBi3TE&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/U422nSBi3TE&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/naKJ9JYxj7A&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/naKJ9JYxj7A&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
I agree with Mr. Meowgi...The Meters are the premiere New Orleans style funk band, but I've heard some of the music of Papa Grows Funk, and they are pretty damn funkalicious.
