wow I can't believe they didn't fire her ass. I hope none of your kids get taught by her. She's a sub so she might pop up at other schools in the district.

I wonder if the sub is Mexican. My aunts always say things like this.

Ridiculous that this happened at an elementary school. However, as a product of HISD's system, I can tell you that behavior like this is not out of the norm for the majority of substitute teachers. During my senior year of high school, we repeatedly had a substitute who would show us horror films that bordered on snuff. HISD is full of people like this who just take up a place in the classroom for technicality's sake.

Get her out of the classroom NOW. Jeez. If you want to talk conspiracies and craziness, do it with teenagers - they're all about craziness and conspiracies (though they're usually convinced the conspiracy is against them)

It ain't that hard. Most districts only require that you have taken 60 hours of college.

HISD is DESPERATE for teachers and particularly for substitute teachers.

The problem is, they don't pay jack-****, so you can continue to expect the same level of excellence from Houston public schools that you've come to know and love.

I knew someone would reply this. This board is becoming way too predictable.

Well, subs make $50-$100 per day depending on education, experience, etc.

I believe the median annual pay for an HISD teacher is somewhere around $45,000. I don't know what the median pay for college grads as a whole is in Houston.

I would never send my kids to major city public school systems like HISD.
