I need help from you dudes. My cousin entered a video for the APPLE iNsomnia competition. It's a 24-hour competition for video editing. He needs votes. I figured you dudes can give a hand.
If he wins, I will change my signature to thank you all, or maybe I'll consider a moratorium on silly jokes and unintelligible posts? ;) (moes, Rey Chita, RM95?)
I started this thread today to get enough of youse to view the film, but I'll BUMP on Friday to start the votes and then at the end to show the results.

I'm all for doing favors, but that was horrible.

Critiques or constructive criticism is welcome, too, Faos. I'm all for listening to comments, too.

I noticed some things as well, but keep in mind that they get 24 hours to put EVERYTHING together. I am sure they can do a little bit of surgery to whatever is on that youtube, which I think might not be the final production.

Ok, maybe I was a little harsh. The 24 hour time frame certainly plays a factor.

If we vote just to vote and he wins is he going to learn his lesson and get better? To be fair I must judge ALL of the entries. Where can they be found?

It's another one of those "jumping the gun" things I also did. Yes, he will become better because many people will add comments. It's called "iNsomnia" because they couldn't sleep while producing this.

I don't think you can judge per se; you can only vote for one, but still look at all the others. The URL to vote starting on Friday is on my initial post.

I know it is not nice to ask to just go out there and vote for him, even if you think it is not such a good video... :( I just thought we were so many that we could help with numbers. Just let my cousin's video be the "most popular", then?

I'm with Faos. I'll try and take a look at the others, but that was bad.

First, I guess you can't blame him for the script. But honestly, I'm not that dense, but if it wasn't for the film title, I wouldn't even understand the point of the whole thing. Even with the title, it was still borderline pointless.

Second, I don't know if he was in charge of the sound or not, but I also wasn't too fond of that. It just didn't seem to "fit". I guess I could kind of see how the sound was trying to build to a crescendo, only to come crashing down at the end...but then, it really didn't do that well. And again, I just wasn't a fan of the song choices.

As far as the actual video editing goes....well, the good news is that wasn't that bad. Had the script and sound been better, I think the video quality, type of shots, etc. held up. If I had to highlight two parts that I didn't like video wise, I'd say the wedding scene and the rolling skate wheel.

The wedding scene...wtf, that was bad. He should have edited that out. Was it even a wedding? Where were the guests throwing the rose petals. Was it necessary...that 1 second of randomness?

The rolling skate wheel. Aside from being done over and over and over, I didn't like how close it was...don't know, just didn't like it...

Alright. My little cousin came to CFnet's BBS and read your critiques and liked them. He asked me to post the following:

Some of these answer many of our questions, JayZ750 and Faos.

Aha! Why didn't you explain that before? Who knew they had to include different items. Now the wedding scene makes sense, I guess.

    Honestly, it was painful.

The music was subpar, there was no dialogue (which is ok IF you do it right), and it was just a really hollow concept to begin with.

:( No. Not the main protagonist. The one in the red t-shirt waiting for a "ride ride" at the bus stop is, though.

A person can vote for as many of the videos he wants to, according to the FAQ.

My kids (my college-aged son and high-school-aged son, anyway. My six month-old daughter didn't contribute hardly anything), wife and I did one of these, too, with a couple of local actors. It's harder than it seems like it would be.... Granted, we were all asleep by midnight, so it was really a 16-hour contest for us (and we took lots of breaks in the middle, too, so if we get it down to actual work, it was more like a six-hour contest).
