Comcast - Compatible Cable Modem and Wireless Router

    Is anyone using a Comcast - compatible cable modem and wireless router?


    What is the model?


    Do you need to contact Comcast to install a new modem / router?

    Motorola Surfboard cable modem SB5120 if good and just any router you want.

    Linksys WRT54G. No you don't need to contact them about the router.

    I have a special modem from Comcast because I also have their CDV telephone service.

    No. The modem has a battery and is very large. This way, I have 3-4 days of phone service if the lights go off. A combination modem/router sounds OK to me if you don't have their phone service.
