Seriously, how the hell do you get it out? I had mine replaced a few weeks ago, and now it's not reading the OS again. So my friend is saying that the hard drive might need to be taken out and put back in to make sure it is securely in place.

Problem is it doesn't slide out at all. I can't figure out how in the hell it is supposed to come out.

Is there a special tool for this, or do I need to further remove something. This is driving me crazy.

"Slide the hard drive out" my ass.

first, calm down. 2nd, locate the hard drive bay, it should be where the hotspot on your palm rest is. 3rd, look for screws, obvious I know but it is what it is.

What do you mean isnt reading your OS again?

    what is the error message?

I run into this from time to time, and all I have to do is boot to recovery console and rewrite the boot sector.

To everyone else, I have an IBM thinkpad 2166 or something. The hard drive is located right above the earphone jacks on the side.

R2K: Got a blue screen last night. Powered it down, and rebooted. After a minute, it told me it couldn't locate disk, and to hit alt + ctrl + del to reboot, which I did. Then it goes into that Intel read mode. States it is unable to read media card and to chck cable. Then immediately below that it says no operating system found.

And that's all it does now. No whirring of the OS like my old one did. It isn't even trying to do anything else. Once again the entire thing just failed. And I had it replaced roughly two weeks ago.

As much of a POS as this desktop is, at least it has never gone down. I don't know what is up with the laptop, but it is getting infuriating.

It seems everytime I get it back, it'll work about a month and then fail. I figured a new hard drive would fix it, and yet, here I am again.

Ok, now that I watched the video, I realize that my new hard drive isn't attached to the outer part that is supposed to let you slide it out. Looks like I'm gonna need some tweezers.
