hey guys, i travel a lot for work, and i finally decided to purchase a media player. i did a lot of research and the archos just made the most sense for me. the screen is really big for movies, removable battery and i can video out to my tv to watch my downloaded movies and tv shows i got it at a great price ($175, $5 shipping) http://www.archos.com/store_us/product.html?country=us&lang=en&prod_id=0000000403
will do, i was considering the ipod video, but the screen is on the small side. while also i was condering the zune, but its 1st gen and i figured it wouldnt be that streamlined (plus its like a brick) i hope this pans out. $175 is a steal for now
Dang, I was wondering how you got it so cheap. Then I saw it was a refurb. I think new, you can get a 30 gig for $230 or so. What's the warranty on the refurb? They're nice, but kinda big aren't they? I still like them - they do a lot of stuff and do it well. The newer models are pretty sweet looking with the touchscreen interface. I'm not sure how well they work, though : http://www.archos.com/products/gen_5/archos_605wifi/index.html?country=us&lang=en http://www.archos.com/products/video/archos_704wifi/index.html?country=us&lang=en I don't really use an mp3 player much... When I'm around my computer, I have all my mp3's nearby and when I'm not near a computer, I'm probably not interested in sitting around listening to mp3's. I do own an iRiver Clix 2 GB, though.
Battery life on the wifi model is pretty weak. The non wifi model does a lot better. I have no complaints though. Great purchase yobod, I LOVE my Archos.
got the cowon A2. it was really a choice of getting either that or the archos 604. in the end, i've been overall very happy with my decision -- plus i don't need to buy extra equipment just to be able to record a/v. i think the cowon a3 is set to debut this year as well.
Thanks, I cant wait to get it in the mail. I have about 5 gigs of music and 2 gigs of pictures. And the rest I'll use for The Office, Friends, Firefly, Arressted Development excited
iRiver PMP-140 bought it on Ebay, used for $115 last Dec. Has a 40 gig hard drive, running the Linux version, not the Windows version, works freaking great. Haven't had issues at all
