In both games, granted Butler didn't play against the Wizards, the Rockets (with Landry and Novak up front) were seriously outmuscled in the paint, giving up offensive rebounds left and right. However, with Butler playing a lot of minutes in the second half of the Kings game, I wouldn't say we dominated the paint, but his presence made it more difficult for the quicker, higher-flying Kings big men (Justin Williams especially) to get boards.

Butler takes up space defensively, and is not a liability offensively as Deke can, more often than not, be. Plus, he can run up and down the floor. The man kept up with AB. He's not all bulk and will be a factor as a back-up for Yao.

Nice to hear that.If Butler loses more weight he can be more effective.

novak's roster spot might be in jeopardy, landry reminds me of a poor man's kenny thomas, need more offensive production and try to block a shot or 2...

Novak's play has been horrid, but they said he had built a lot of upper body strength and that can throw off your shot until you get used to it.
