TRAITOR: 'I'LL KILL AMERICANS'

    By HANNELE RUBIN

November 4, 2001 -- This is the face of a traitor - a New Yorker who bought a one-way ticket to
Pakistan because he wants to sign up for the Taliban and kill Americans.

He left on his likely suicide mission just one week after his mother was led to safety from the collapsing World Trade Center by the city's brave firefighters and policemen, many of whom were among the more than 4,000 victims of the terrorist strikes on the Twin Towers on Sept. 11.

"I did not feel any remorse for the Americans [who died]," Mohammad Junaid said in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Thursday as he waited to be taken across the border into Afghanistan to join the troops of the Taliban.

"I'm willing to kill the Americans. I will kill every American that I see in Afghanistan. And I'll kill every American soldier that I see in Pakistan," Junaid boasted to British television correspondent, Jon Gilbert, in an interview for the ITN Channel 5 network.

Until he revealed his rabid and murderous intentions, Junaid said, he had been living a typical life as a born-and-bred New Yorker.

The 26-year-old son of Pakistani immigrants said he went to elementary and high school in the city and studied at a med school for two years before dropping out to join a dot-com company. When that folded, he took a $70,000-a-year job as a programmer for a Muslim-oriented company, a position he quit just days before embarking on his self-appointed jihad.

"I do have an American passport. But at the end of the day, I'm a Muslim," Junaid said last week.

Junaid, a stocky but fit man, told ITN his family fully supports his bloodthirsty mission.

He said his father was a retired security guard and shopkeeper while his mother is thought to have worked on the ninth floor of the trade center. Attempts by The Post to contact them were unsuccessful.

The bespectacled Junaid said his anti-American anger began when he was the only Muslim child at the Catholic school he attended in the city. He said he always felt left out at the school.

He said his family had immigrated to the United States from Pakistan in 1967 to take advantage of the "freedoms and opportunities" in New York City.

He said his grandfather instilled in him the belief that "your loyalty is with Islam. Your loyalty is with the Muslims. Just because you're in New York, your loyalty is still with them."

Junaid told Gilbert he had been sleeping for the past week on the floor of the Lahore office of an extremist Muslim group as he waited for his transport across the Afghanistan border. He said he hoped to join pro-Taliban forces there this week.

Junaid was thought to be accompanied by several British Muslims, with whom he met up in London two weeks ago, according to a report in London's Sun newspaper.

The American was interviewed by the newspaper, along with two other British-born Muslims who also said they were returning to Pakistan to fight for the Taliban.

Former civil engineer Abdul Salem, 25, of London's Brick Lane, told the Sun, "I have been waiting a long time for this - to kill British soldiers."

Sounds like he went to one of those extreme schools in Pakistan. I would love to listen to his logic in all of this. I bet he would just blame Jews for blowing up the WTC.

I wish his mother perished and someone else was saved in her place. This guy better not be allowed back in our country.

Don't wish death on his mother, from the report it seems as if she has done nothing wrong.

Junaid, a stocky but fit man, told ITN his family fully supports his bloodthirsty mission.

If this is true, she has done something wrong.

As in, bringing him into this world...

What a fool. he will probably die from one of our bombs before he ever fires his rifle.

He would have been better off getting a gun and going on a killing spree here in the states.

You will find fanatical nuts everywhere, in every group, every city. I don't think it is always the fault of parents when their offspring become murderers or get involved in fanaticism.

I think the worst thing we can do is generalize from this fanatical idiot, even if the story is credible. Giving guys like this, the recent terrorists, the Columbine kids, or guys like Timothy McVeigh such a forum and legitimacy is not the right way to go IMO.

Do I even need to say anything in regards to this? ;) I think most Pakistani-Americans have more sense than this, but there are even a few "Americans"...

I did recently post a similar story, but the jehadi in that story was from Britian... And it turned out to be a scam for him (and quite enlightening as to the Taliban's tactics). Now he's stuck in Pakistan.

If this person is ever allowed back home (or to the US, since he apparently doesn't regard it as home), it needs to be for a trial and execution.

Of course you are going to feel left out at a Catholic school if you're Muslim. Why the hell would you send a Muslim to Catholic school?

He will get over there and the Taliban will give him his rifle, put him on the front lines, tell him to fire even though he has had zero training and can see nothing, the response fire from the opposition will hit several people around him, and then when they are brought out of there....they will all cheer as if they achieved some sort of victory when in actuality it is all they have left is phony morale.

Same kind of situation with them parading around the wheels of our helicopter. They slant it for morale by claiming to have shot it down although they have no other parts and no bodies. Because, you know, they would gladly die pulling that wreckage and the American bodies from that wreckage. But...wait....oh....their afraid of the land mines and can't get to it. What a crock of sh#t! They would gladly sacrifice 100 of their men to get at any American soldier bodies or more helicopter parts to parade around town. We all know they would be dragging all the heli parts and doing all kinds of insane things to the American corpses making statements like they will definitely win, Americans are weak, blah blah blah....looking like the terrorist thugs that they are and making twisted logic with their words.

You know what's truly sad/funny is when they interview members of the Taliban...their reasoning for hating America does not making any sense. Not one of them gave a consistent, valid reason for hating America so much(this was before all this). IF that isn't a brainwash job, then there never has been one. One Pakistani extremist asked why America would attack Afghanistan for one person(bin laden)? After all, it is just one person so why attack all of Afghanistan. If that is what you believe, then so be it. From our perspective, we say if it's just one man, then why not hand him over to save Afghanistan and the Taliban from impending destruction? Huh? HUH?? Just one man....all you have to do is hand him over. In reality, the guy had no sense of what was going on around him or was just one of them. We all know it's not just one man and it doesn't stop there.

It stops when there is no more terrorism or breeders of terrorism in the world. I think we should carpet bomb those crazies in the Philipines for kidnapping vacationing peoples at retreats next. After all, we have the support of their government. Screw the rainforest....:p.

    And Surfguy -

That helo they claimed to have shot down: the AAA gun that "shot it down" was filmed less than 20 feet from the main wreckage (actually, it was in the blast radius of the wreckage). Curiously, the gun looked unscathed, and the wheel tracks (it was towed there) were undisturbed...

I find their propaganda clips amusing, personally. What I find disturbing is that there are many people out there who actually believe that sh*t. Those are the people who will go to Afghanistan...

True, but in how many wars to the footsoldiers give a clear, logical and consistent argument for why they want to kill the other side?? Against Hitler, OK, I buy that, against Japan in WW2 or the Taliban right now, OK I might by that too. But not too many other cases though. War largely is a propoganda and brainwashing enterprise because to wage it well you have to dehumanize the enemy. Most often this isn't based done through well-articulated and thought-out arguments, I don't see much historically unique in the above case.

There is always some sort of rationale, Desert Scar. Realistic or not, it's always there.

In 1991 Iraqi troops told themselves that they were retaking the 19th province, and thet they would all be rich when it was done, and they deserved the money because of all they had worked and fought for...

American troops were telling themselves that they were going to free those poor Kuwaitis. Watching actual footage from Kuwait from the war (tortures, mutilations, rapes, etc) they steeled themselves and came to the conclusion that "the Iraqis deserve whatever they get". In the back of their minds the oil question was always there, but it was really about "they deserve what they get".

In that case they were actually right. The Iraqi occupiers acted like completely inhuman animals. Even Q8 has to vouch for that. That war, even if it was fought for un-altruistic reasons, was a just war.

In 1993 We went into Somalia. No American trooper wanted to go there, they were just told to grab their gear and get ready for a "peacekeeping" mission. This was new at the time. But they stopped the famine there and saved several million Somalis. Bitter thoughts go with our retreat from Somalia (we were trying to feed them, and they were trying to kill us).

In 1994-5 we went to Haiti. No one remembers how successful that was, because the Haitians themselves screwed up the peace. But I can tell you what US troops were thinking at the time: "Is this going to be like Somalia?"

In 1995-6 We were primarily concerned with the war in Bosnia. That war didn't really end until Slobodan Milosevic went to the Hague this year; the Serbs finally elected to depose the communists, and that was the real victory in that war. But what was the average US trooper/airman thinking about the whole conflict aside from "Why can't these idiots just not kill each other?" They were thinking "The second we start dropping food to somebody, somebody else is going to start shooting at us."... That one ended well, thank God.

Now Afghanistan. What are US troopers thinking? This one is easy: "These mother fu**ers just attacked my country and killed 6,000 Americans. They're trying to do it again. They're sending anthrax to us (to BBSers, the military isn't as braindead as you think, and can figure out where it came from). We are going to do our best to kill those MFs. They have left us no choice."

I think there are alot of private schools that have no religious afiliation I know mine doesnt. But then again a lot of private schools have very, very loose religious affiliation. Like for example when I lived in New Orleans I went to a jewish school (the same one the Mannings went to) just b/c it was a good private school but I think I was still in the majority (christian).

So I am making the assumtion that this was a somewhat religious catholic school and that is the reason behind that comment in the article.

And we all know these 2 things are mutually exclusive...

And of course, you can't be a Muslim if you live in New York.

What a bunch of idiots. What's worse is that they came here for "freedom", yet the moron is now will fight against the country that gave him that freedom. And I'm so sorry that he felt left out of all the reindeer games at Catholic school. Maybe if his parents had some sense in their bone-plated heads, they wouldn't have sent a Muslim to a Catholic school if they worried about him straying away from Islam.

But that's cool... another idiot about to be erased from the gene pool. And I'm sure his parents are feeling really safe right about now...
