http://albawaba.com/ I was doing a search one day for 'middle east news' and came across this website. I checked it out and they have forums! I figured since there a few posters on this BBS that have a fairly extensive knowledge of mid east history, history in general and religion, you guys might want to contribute to this site... or not. Regardless, it's interesting to see and read differing views. enjoy, or not... rH
Another decent site is http://www.dawn.com And there is a pretty good one called the washington report on middle eastern affairs. Don't know the exact address but a search should find it pretty easily. You guys should take a look, might open your eyes a little bit about whats been going on there for the last 15 or so years.
This one is my favorite . Click on the Gupshup link, scroll down to the World Affairs forum link, and click. And try to remain calm...that is some heavy anti-American reading there. It's definitely the opinion of the other side of the world...some Americans post...not many.
I started a site called www.warroomcentral.com I ended up automating the news, and the load time suffers as result, but I think the diversity and sheer quanity of news sources makes it worth it. I wrote a perl script to refresh the news and cache it every ten minutes, so the headlines are fresh, but it is still sheer hell to load when I use the wireless modem on the road (19.2k). It also kills Netscape for Linux (go figure), even though Netscape's own validator says my html is fine. Considering I got it to work with Konquerer, opera, and the Dreamcast browser, I am inclined to blame Netscape... I just added a forum, but the site gets zero traffic except from co-workers, friends and family. If people start going and send me suggestions, I'd be eager to implement them. It's still a work in progress, but after inversting considerable time and energy into it, I'm not about to quit now... -Deji
