Someone was asking about a summer film program for a high schooler so I thought I would pass this along.

The UT film school is probably the best in the South US. Every animation, editing special effect, and visual design program is available in mass computer labs and the faculty all have experience in actual film making.

Austin is the premier independent filming city in the US. There is always something that is being shot and the city is very accommodating. Basically, if you put int he work you can get something shot.

It's good to start to get to know the technical side so when you get to film school you can learn the more theoretical aplications.

There is a TVstudio camp and a film camp. I am a film major and I work at the UT TV station so I could answer questions about both.

Let me know if anyone is interested in a more detailed readout of the applications we have. Movies like 300, Dark City, King Kong and endless others use the same programs that we have licensing for.

Up until last year, I hosted a sports show for KVRX. Anyone interested in the UT Television station should listen to what the man has to say, it's legit.

This sounds like it might be right up my son's alley. He's almost 16, and will be a Junior in the Fall. Going to a magnet high school, into robotics, and is bright as hell. Thanks for the tip. I'll have him scope it out.

College Crossfire? It's a good show. ATX most wanted is the most well done production. ALL UT students are wecome to join the TV station and work on any number of TV shows.

Sneak Peak is interviewing Seth McFarnane as we speak and I'm going out with them next week to interview the guys from Broken Lizard (suppertroopers, beerfest). They did a interview with Jamie Kennedy last night...i mean it's just jamie Kennedy but it's still cool.

Movie Junkies is a movie triva quiz show. There are some others including a bizzare comedy show called "That's Awesome!" but they just do field shooting which is more of a time requirement.

    Journalists should really consider it...

Actually, I meant the radio station. I know the guys who ran Crossfire, though.
