I already realize it's the "new" word for MILF, or older women. I'm just trying to figure out where it came from, or how it jumped into our lexicon so damn fast?

Did we really need another term? Did we ever really need one?

    I'm flumoxed.

Cougar isn't really a term for MILF. It's a term describing older women who look for younger men.

This is pretty much how I would use the term Cougar.

I thought it was a term for someone who can't get a job out of college.

    Hey-ooooo

First time I heard it was on the show How I Met Your Mother, but I am not usually at the cutting age of the hip lingo.

John Jay Moores, John O'Quinn, Racehorse Haynes, Jack Valenti and Kathy Whitmire might have something to say about that. Better stay off of Scott Street after dark.

I heard it 2 years ago in Chicago from a guy born in Sweden. Thats the earliest I got. So so far... My origin is winning.

Term's been around for over 15 years!! I remember it back when I was in University in the late 80's. Way before MILF. (Which has a different meaning entirely).

Cougars stalk their prey. MILF's are lusted after.

Per Wikopedia -- it's Canadian slang.

OK... good, I'm not middle-aged yet, I don't dress to the nines, and I don't prowl. I'll just be myself and let the (slightly) younger men come to me. :D

I heard it in Grade 12 (2002)...and have heard it numerous times over the years since then - most commonly from 2004-present.

It may have been, but it certainly wasn't as well known until recently. I personally had never heard it until this year. Now I've heard it half a dozen times.

Just like "WeHo Bling Bling" was known before it was popular, Cougar is just now becoming a part of normal slang.

To be fair, John realized older women have some facial hair, and tend not to shave as much. Therefore, due to the irony of having "Hurt so Good" related to anything "Cougar", he disavowed the name entirely, and hasn't used it since.

(However he still, for whatever reason, still prefers dentures. Possibly an oxymoron, John?)
