Sorry guys, and it was a blurb on Fox, channel 48 in Austin. You know they tend to run with a story before their are facts. Anyways, you know how they have that running news line at the bottom?

It said they had "learned" that boston, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, and the WEst Coast were also targeted. I think it could be true. I think they wanted to hit the big two first though.

I heard on FoxNews cable channel that the Sears Tower in Chicago, the Transamerica Buidling in S.F., the Space Needle in Seattle and two energy company buildings, one in Dallas and one in Houston, were targets. I don't recall them mentioning what the targets in L.A. or Boston where, but the cities where also mentioned.

Energy company buildings. Believe it or not, those might be hard to find after hijacking a plane from D/FW. It's not like aiming for the biggest building downtown. Of course, Las Colinas is in the path of many D/FW runways and is home to Mesa Petroleum and I think some Exxon/Mobil offices (but I'm not sure on that) and probably others.

It seems plausible, but who knows if this is an accurate report on the media's part (or how close to success such an attack did or didn't come if it is an accurate report).

Going after the Space Needle seems pretty pointless, though. What would knocking that over accomplish (in the twisted mindset of the terrorists)?

Actually, there are quite a few office buildings that could have been hit and destroyed if the Space Needle was hit. I have several friends that work right in that area. I don't think the loss of human life would have been close to WTC, but maybe similar to the Pentagon. I'm glad that they weren't successful as I'd have potentially lost 3 or 4 of my best friends.

I guess the Space Needle just seems to not fit in with the rest, but I guess it would be easy to aim for and certainly it could cause damage in Seattle. It just seems like aiming at a building (like with the rest of the targets and supposed targets) would be more destructive.

I'm also glad that no one was successful in crashing a plane into the Space Needle or anywhere else where a crash may or may not have been planned and not carried out.

I think most of this story is speculation since they only have pieces of intercepted information.

I haven't seen any other news sites report this same story. All I've seen is other sites might have been targeted, but nothing specific.

Yes.. It would have made a lot more sense to target the Bank of America building in downtown Seattle. It's the tallest building here and surrounded by other, smaller office buildings so the damage would have been quite a bit more severe than if the Space Needle was hit. I'm also glad that ALL the other targets were thwarted.

I think knocking down any major US landmark would be symbolic. The taller buildings in Houston are ownde by gas companies, right? I think that would be symbolic also.

If the terrorists were trying to send a message, what better way than to attack it's largest cities and greatest landmarks. I'm sure there were other cities targeted.

Don't these guys make all their money of oil? And they wanted to topple the companies who, when it is all said and done, are probably making them rich (albeit very indirectly)?
