How do you handle a male friend saying to you...

    I love you.

    I have passionate (non-gay and gay) friends and ever now and then they'll drop the "I love you" bomb on me. Sometimes it's pretty uncomfortable and I usually say something like, "yeah me too".

    Actually I have a buddy that says it all the time within my group of friends, I can see everyone get all uncomfortable when this dude starts his handshake, hug and passionate adieu.

    I do love my homey but damn it's weird to say.

    Thoughts?

    Depends who it is.

    I've never had a friend say "I love you" to me (other than the woman-friend), but I've had guys say "man, I really cherish your friendship," and if it's said in a genuine way it's alright by me. It's weird if it's said in a group though...

    ...so yeah, I'd probably just go with the awkward mumbling response.

    I've said it to a friend and had it returned. Although I've known him like 18 years now and he was on his way to his 2nd tour in Iraq. Could always just say i feel the same way man.

    Does he say "man" after "I love you"? If yes, no big deal. If no, you may have a problem.

    Hearing it doesn't bother me and I have no problem returning the sentiment, unless it's from someone who's being fake.
