Rome said he would be on either the bottom of this hour or the top of the 2nd hour (noon).

You gotta love this guy - I live in St Louis (originally from Houston) and wonder if you see any Battier jerseys around town. Can someone comment?

Shane is an awesome player on the court and an even more impressive individual off the court.

"family comes first" - as Shane said.

I love watching the Rockets because of JVG, Tmac and Yao and now even more because of Shane battier.

    Battier heaps praise on Yao

Rocket forward admits it's hard to believe Rocket success without Yao

Rocket forward Shane Battier was a guest on the Jim Rome radio show Thursday morning and spoke about the team's recent play.
When asked how the Rockets have been able to win 9 of 13 without Yao Ming, Battier said the Rockets are a "pretty resilient group" and that it "helps to have a guy named Tracy McGrady on your roster", but overall?

"It's been a little hard to believe," said Battier. "Yao is an unbelievable player. He's an All-Star and probably the most famous person in China, which speaks volumes, but to be around him, I've really been impressed with him on a day-to-day basis. He's such a tireless worker and sets a great example for the entire team."

When pressed for specifics on what has impressed Shane about the 7-foot-5 Yao, Battier praised his work ethic.

"[Yao] is the first one to practice every day. He never complains. Ever. About anything. He is happy when his teammates succeed. I don't know if you can find too many super-superstars in this league that you can say that about."

The Duke alum also praised Dikembe Mutombo, who he said is playing "like a 16-year old high school sophomore", and Tracy McGrady. When Rome asked if T-Mac was a step slower this year, Battier was quick to respond.

"If that's true, Tracy McGrady with a lost step is still better than 97% of the NBA," said Battier. "He's a phenomenal talent. He's matured. He understands that he can dominate a game not just by scoring the basketball. Of course he has his T-Mac outbursts where he scores 40 points, he had [21] in the first quarter against Dallas. He can still score, but I think as a mature player he's understanding how to dominate the game in different ways."

Battier also spoke about what it was like to be traded this past offseason.

"It really has been a great experience for me," said Battier. "It's a little shocking, a little unnerving, when you first get the news to be traded. I was a little unsure of my new surroundings, but the city of Houston and the organization really has been great and I think it's been a really good fit for me personally."

Would it be more correct to say Yao is the most famous Chinese in the US?
