pssssh. At least WORK for your good money. Here's an email I got...

"Next Generation Solutions is seeking a top-quality candidate for our Assistant Technology Manager position. My assistant recently viewed your resume online and I feel that you meet the qualifications needed for this challenging career. The ideal candidate will be familiar with aspects of online business development and have strong team management skills that can bring projects through tight deadlines.

We have a number of clients, which we work with very closely to bring top-tier e-commerce solutions to. We are heavily involved with building a site from the ground up so that all aspects of someone's business online can be properly handled -- this includes user interfaces, backend functionality and security. The Technology Manager will be involved from the very beginning of this process and have a hand and a stake in the future of the site's success.

Major responsibilities include:

* Managing a team of programmers.
* Scheduling projects and summarily following through on deadlines.
* Close communication with our design department in order to create functional websites that are attractive to users.
* Multi-tasking and the ability to handle several projects at once.

Oh yeah.... I went ahead and googled the company name... and found the company page....

There has been an ongoing e-mail scam where individuals claiming to be from Nextgen have been e-mailing job seekers, offering jobs and then asking for personal identification information. NextGen would never ask for such things in an e-mail. Please do NOT give any information to anyone claiming to be from Nextgenjobs.com if you did not initiate contact.

We will from time to time contact people in the Rochester, NY area who post their resume on AJB.org. We will usually do that with a phone call or e-mail, but never asking for anything more than an updated version of your resume.

To repeat, we will NEVER ask for any personal information on first contact.

SCAM DETAILS

The name on the e-mails purporting to be from NextGen is Sam Winters and the jobs he's offering are either work at home or a job in your local area. One of the websites is Instanthumanresoeurces.com, but that could change once they see we're on to them. They have offered Work at Home jobs, receptionist jobs and the latest one (8/29) is Account Exec with a base salary of $66K plus bonus and full benefits.

Here are some things that should tip you off that it's a scam:

* Pay that seems out of line for the position (for example, some people were told that we were offering $22+ / hr for general receptionist work)
* Offers of relocation assistance for a low level job (receptionist relocation?!?! Are you kidding me?)
* Listing a Salary in the e-mail with no knowledge of your individual work history or capabilities (we never do that)
* Hiring someone over the web (We never have and never will)
* In the process of hiring them sight unseen, ask for personal information like SS#, DOB, Bank Account numbers, etc.

(Update: They are changing their tactics to offer high paid jobs now, $65K to 80K executive jobs so perhaps they're reading our site and have seen this posting.....if you scam artists are reading this...do us a favor and get run over by a bus, would you?)"
