How do you import songs from the ipod to the computer. my brother took all my cds to save songs on his ipod. the cd's are in san antonio, but his ipod with all the songs are over here with me. i want to trasfer songs from his ipod to my ipod. how do i do that?
You don't. It's not a part of the iPod's default function, although you can download programs that let you do it. Personally, I use SharePod. Basically, it puts a program on your iPod that makes it more like a portable hard drive. You can upload and download to and from the iPod on any computer, whether it has iTunes or not. http://www.sturm.net.nz/website.php?Section=iPod+Programs&Page=SharePod
yea but adding software directly onto the ipod will void your warranty. I suggest using copypod. It costs money but they offer a free 14 day trial which should be plenty of time to get stuff off of your ipod. Unlike the software above, you install this on your pc and the software will let you put the songs on your computer harddrive. Then you connect your ipod and put the songs on the computer into it. http://www.copypod.net/
There's an easier way...Apparently, it can totally mess up your iPod(Somethin about corrupting files), but I've done it twice, and everything's okay so far. Just go to My Computer and click on your iPod. View all hidden folders, and a bunch of folders should appear.
I have a 2nd generation Ipod from back in the day. Music Match was the old software and could do that...don't know if that helps. But with Itunes, couldn't you just copy all of your brother's music from his Ipod into your computer's Itunes library? Then you take out his Ipod, put in yours, and reverse. I think I've done that before a few years ago.
http://www.findleydesigns.com/ipodaccess/indexWin.html i use ipod access for windows. costs $15 to download the software. it reads whats on your ipod in windows and allows you from there to copy to i-tunes on your hard drive. from there, as it is now on your computer as well as ipod, you can burn cd's or save in different file, ect. its very easy to use and only takes a couple minutes to pay for and install. i know its tough to pay for stuff in this day and age, but for me at $15 it is a great bargain. of course im sure if you fish around you can find it free. EDIT: its different from some of the other programs mentioned in that it doesnt do anything to your ipod or install anything on it.
unless im really missing out on something i dont think you can do that directly. im on p.c. though - maybe macs have always been able to pull songs directly of the ipod?
