Indiana Pacers coach Rick Carlisle didn't waste time solving a potential point guard logjam created by Jamaal Tinsley's return. Carlisle said after Monday's victory against Orlando that he plans to use a two-man rotation of Jamaal Tinsley and Anthony Johnson. Carlisle's decision leaves Sarunas Jasikevicius, whom team president Larry Bird referred to as the best player in Europe, and his $4 million a year salary on the bench. -- Indianapolis Star

He would be an awesome PG on our squad next year. What do you guys think?

Yes, he would be perfect for our team......

BUT...JVG would not want him because he is not a lock down defender.

We need shooters, and this guy is that.......

What am I missing here? This guy is definitely an NBA caliber player, but I haven't seen any flashes of brilliance from him. And for a guy who I thought was suppossed to be an awesome shooter, he really hasn't done that all that well, either.

Obviously, no one knows too much about our Euro we drafted a couple of years ago, but why not see how he looks in summer league.

Spanolis....heck yes.....bring him over.....too bad we did not have him this year.

It will take a couple of years for him to get comfortable, and this one would have been great with all the injuries etc.

It seems so obvious that this team needs shooters. If you want to save the season, cut Bowen and sign Hoiberg and Person. Go with a lineup of:

    Alston
    Person
    Hoiberg
    Swift
    Yao

Just park Hoiberg and Person at the three point line. Dump it in to Yao. If he gets triple-teamed dish it out for three and repeat for each offensive possession. On D, the perimeter defense would obviously be lacking but you could afford to go with the 3-2 zone with the 2 shot blockers down there. Will never happen but, fun to think about. Just my crazy rant.

but hasn't he been playing sg for the pacers? the guy basically shoots wesley like numbers (and misses from the 3) but without wesley's defense.

I would think more than anything the Pacers would want to move salary. They have been trying to move PG Anthony Johnson for some time now. And they have a decision to make on injury riddled PG Jamaal Tinsley. My guess is Saras is in their long-term plans.

He's a sick shooter, but has poor footspeed. Big defensive liability, and can't penetrate to set up others. Balls of iron, but is a niche bench player.

He would help our team though.

He could be our new Barry. But the way things go around here, he could easily be our new Pike instead.

So we have a "lock down" defender now at the PG position? More like a screen door. Alston can't stop anyone. And he can't shoot either. Bring him on.

In the 14 game regular season in Europe, Spanoulis averaged almost 15 pts a game shooting over 60% from 2 pt range and 43% from 3 point range. He drew 4.5 fouls a game, assist to turnover 3.2/2.8. He slipped a bit in the playoffs, but it looks like he's ready to come over.

Holy crap, he plays less than 30 minutes a game 14 games a year and he gets paid 2 Mil a year. No wonder he doesn't want to come over. We need to bring the guy over but I'm not holding my breath that we can convince him to quit a job like that.

Where did you read that? He was signed as a bench player and the figure bandied about was closer to 1.5 over 3yrs.

LOL! I guess one team's "trash" is another's "treasure". Indiana has a pretty solid guard rotation, while we desperately need a backup PG to Alston who's capable to knocking down jumpers and passing...Sarunas would be the perfect fit to enable JVG to mix-and-match with Alston's skills.

I hope Indiana is thinking of trading him...somehow I doubt it.

1.5 over 3yrs is what allegedly paying him, that's probably why his buy out is affordable (around 400 to 500k).
