Untill recently I would say the Spurs were our number one rival no matter which team is up or down at the time.

But now the more I think about it I hate Dallas, the city, the cowboys, the mavs and the people. I guess when we were competing with the Spurs in the 90's it was natural to hate them and not even notice dallas (voted worst pro sports franchise of the 1990's). It started with Cuban than they started winning then as I sat in the AAC last season after game seven I really started to hate them so much.

With all this I would still say the Spurs one Dallas two Lakers three and maybe the Hornets being close (New Orleans or OK city) will one day be a natural rival!

Mavs, no question. Used to be the Jazz but now Mavs.

I think right now It's Dallas.

    JVG vs Cuban

Cuban loves to whine in public, and JVG isn't afraid to speak his mind.

    T-Mac vs Dirk
They're 2 great players that have had huge performance against eachothers team. I also made a mix about one of their games. You can check it out here.

    Yao vs Dampier

Yao is a quiet player that'll play his game, and not brag about how good he is. Dampier is a player who likes to brag, but isn't as good as he says.

    Terry vs Rockets Guards

Terry just killed our Guards in the playoffs last year, and there's not one Rockets fan or player who likes him.

I really hope we can make the playoffs in the 8th spot. And maybe Dallas will get the #1 seed so we can sweep em in the 1st round of the playoffs!

I agree for a five year period the Jazz but that did not have staying power so I did not mention it.

And why are the Rockets playing a national TV game against the 76ers on rivalry week? You know with those zero lifetime playoff matchups.

The MAVS, and it is not close. I don't just dislike them, I LOATH them. I can't stand Terry, and Howard makes me want to puke. He needs serious dental work. What makes me really mad is they are soooooo good. I feel like slapping the Rocket's brass for not getting role players like they have. They are going to kill the Rockets; more humiliation. Why, because just like the Suns, they have SHOOTERS!!!

Yeah, I hate the Mavs, and Mavs would right now definitely be it.

But for some reason, I don't hate Dirk. Maybe that will change if he lights us up one night :p .

You know, I feel the same way. When he and Nash were together I really liked that duo. He was subpar in last year's playoffs and he seems like he is on a mission this season. Tough match up.

I don't think the rockets have a true rival right now.

This is a completely new team with very little history that is struggling to claw it's way into the playoffs - again. I guess the Mavs would be closest, but eh.

Shouldn't the Spurs be our main rival considering the history of our franchises? I can't explain why, but I also loathe the Mavs more than any team in the NBA almost. If emotions are the main consideration, I guess the Mavs belong at #1 for me. But it seems like the defending champ Spurs should be it when I look at history.

If it weren't for last year's playoff matchup, I think most people here would say Spurs in a landslide. Our feelings are still raw after being up 2-0 and losing the blowout in Game 7. I won't even get over that until we beat the Mavs in the playoffs.

Cause they "stole" Moses from us and won a Championship w/ him - actually it led to Sampson and Akeem, so I'm exaggerating, but WTH.

Like Phil Jackson said...the Spurs have 2 1/2 Championships or 3 with an astrik. We should have at least 4 (possibly a lot more than that) if not for Cocaine - thanks alot JL II, Sweet Lew, and Mitchell Wiggins.

That was great when Sura punked him!

Too bad Howard was out and we had no other legit 4 and Sura was playing on a bum knee or it would of been a sweep.

Houston lost to the sixers 4-2 in the '77 eastern conference finals. Rox were two wins away from an eastern conference championship and facing portland in the finals. The next year "the punch" happened and it took a long time to get back to form in form. 4 seasons laters the Rox win the western conference championship, in their first year they were even apart of the west.

The Mavs are now at the top of my list with the Spurs. I hate the Mavs and Spurs with a passion. It makes me sick just thinking that the Spurs have Horry and have half a ring more than us. I can not STAND IT!
