I replaced my T-10 with a Commodore 64. Better keyboard.

Make sure you have a firewall. The faster the connection, the faster the infection.

ive been wanting to get one of those since I first saw a tmobile laptop card that went at 56K.

So is the upload speed any good? Like would the card work well for bittorrent and such applications?

Also, ive heard that sprint and verizons internet is much better than 3G, and cingular is only available in 15 markets whereas the others are more widespread

I recently upgraded from newspaper to toilet paper. I'm sure the experience is similar.

We got that Fiber Optic stuff (FIOS) when we got the new house.

Doesn't seem any faster than cable, but it is less expensive (and we have a DISH for TV).

I got flamed for posting this type of thread 2 years ago.

Make sure and heed the firewall advice, they don't just infect from "bad" places. ;)

If you have Comcast, the McAfee security suite is free.

Why? Sometimes I feel like a lemming being "connected" all the time. In small-town college ten+ years ago I didnt have any of that and life was grand. All I needed was my record player, reading material, and a couple of local tv channels. Going without Rockets games was the hardest part though...

Speaking of technology, I can still remember a friend calling me back in the 80's and getting my answering machine and leaving a message saying "ooooooh, you got an ANSWERING MACHINE" as if it were a big deal.

I remember one of my partners being adamantly against us getting voicemail because it was too impersonal.

Ohhh the days of crypic messages scribbled on "while you were out" notepads

I pay a crapload for my DSL connection, but I get 512K up and around 2.5 - 3Mbps down, plus a static IP address.
