CAMBY NO LOCK: Jeff Van Gundy lauded Nuggets center Marcus Camby. But the Houston Rockets coach said one can't be sure Camby will be picked for the Feb. 19 All-Star Game in Houston.

"The only thing that's more unpredictable than the fan voting is the coach's," said Van Gundy, who coached Camby with New York from 1998-2001. "I would say most coaches tend to go with players from winning teams."

The Nuggets are 13-14 after Friday's 108-86 win against the Rockets. Camby, whose statistics have improved considerably, is a distant second in fan voting to Houston's Yao Ming, so he would need to be picked by the coaches as a reserve. But Yao is out six to eight weeks with a toe injury, so a center also could be named as an injury replacement.

"He's played really well certainly because he's a really good player and he has been for a long time," Van Gundy said of Camby. "That's why the numbers to me, who cares? The only thing that matters is being able to avoid the freak injury. . . . He's embraced the idea he's a center (not a power forward)."

His calling Camby a loser. he said most fans would pick a great player from a winning team. hence camby dosent fall into this categorie.

It's a stab at the voting - not at Camby. The "he's a really good player and he has been for a long time" is the giveaway. Yeesh people...

    "Merry Christmas!"
"Wait... are you wishing death upon my family?!"
"Well, no... just a Merry Christmas."
    "OMG I HATE YOU!"
    "Uh..."

Clearly JVG is fluent in Chinese and read the other article where Camby bashes his coaching style. Payback is a bi***!
