What is up with video games and violence these days? What happened to Pac Man?

Same difference, Pac Man killed ghosts, in this game you kill ghosts with improved graphics.

RC, are the Silent Hill sequels worth buying?

Yeah, but the ghosts guts didn't rip open and have their guts pour out when you slashed through them with a knife.

it's all relative Jeff. Pac-man is quite violent...compared to pong.

Wow! Translated very nicely, the fog in the town and the rusted color on the gates and doors is PERFECT!

And very nice picture RC, who could forget the body strung up on barbed wire and the beginning... I seem to recall seeing the wheelchair and hospital bed in the game at that part as well!

I've only played Silent Hill 1 and 2 myself, although I've watched someone else play Silent Hill 3. Silent Hill 2 was great, IMO, although a little short for my tastes. I've heard great things about Silent Hill 3, at least graphically, although I hear it isn't as good as 1 and 2. FWIW though, if you like SH1, I believe SH3 is supposed to continue the story a bit (SH2 isn't directly related).

Silent Hill 4 is probably OK, from what I hear, but it isn't at the same level as the other 3. I believe another studio worked on it at Konami, and originally, it wasn't even supposed to be a Silent Hill game. I guess if you keep that in mind, it may not be too bad. Maybe a rental first to see if you like it.

I bought SH1 and SH2 used a while back at some great prices; want to say around $10 a piece. I want to try and play SH3 and maybe SH4, but I'm going to try and finish off some of my other games first. Once that's done, I'll look into getting the other two; I think both games are hovering around $15 (used) or so at ebgames.com, so I might try and get those some time next year. Even if both games aren't as good as the first two, that's a great price to buy them anyway IMO. So I guess my final answer is that since each game can be had at a great price, they're definitely worth buying IMO.

I only played Silent Hill 1 and from I remember it was pretty good game overall. The trailer posted looks pretty good.

Silent Hill one was one of the scariest games I have ever played, I was pretty terrified the entire time.

Resident Evil one is my #1, even though it isn't that scary anymore, it was the first of it's kind.

As I mentioned, I played it not too long ago, and it freaked me out even with the PS1 tech...although I guess the PS1 visuals made it even scarier.;)

Part of what makes these games so scary, IMO, is the sound/music; luckily for us, Akira Yamaoka will be providing the soundtrack for the movie and I think he's also helping out in making sure the movie "feels" like Silent Hill. You guys may have noticed his work in the trailer from other SH games.

Also, here are some interesting words from the director, Christophe Gans:
Seems to define the SH games I played to a T, which probably explains why the adaptation seems to be going so well. The director actually seems to understand what the game was about. :)

That looks really bad (bad as in bad). I'am curious to see it though just because I'am a fan of the game.

A bit off topic but I think the Resident Evil movies were very enjoyable.
