Long time lurker, infrequent poster. I have been following the Rockets since they came here from San Diego. This has got to be some of the most inept basketball I have seen and I have seen a lot. The problem is that these are the players they have got to go to war with. Until someone, Sura, TMac, you name it lays hands on them and gets the spark back, this is going to be a long road trip. I don't see any resemblance of playoff basketball in this group. I hope I am wrong but history would seem to predict otherwise.
Take a deep breath. We are 1-2. The season is far from lost and we have A LONG time to turn this around. I suspect T-mac's return well get us back on the right track soon enough. Its become clear though, that we won't have the success that is expcted without him.
I'm not worried about anything other than T-Mac's health. If he is in there this team is in the elite of the NBA. If he's not than they struggle . All teams struggle without their best player. The Rockets got off to a slow start last year and we were all calling for JVG's head. But once they got their chemistry going they were as good as almost anybody. Same thing this year. There are some new players here. I wouldnt be worried about this team if they 1-2 with T-Mac so I'm certainly not going to worry about their 1-2 record w/o T-Mac. Like I said I'm just worried about anything other than T-Mac's health as should everybody else. You can't just plug a new PG in the lineup, and a key guy in Swift than take away T-Mac one game into the season and expect the team to perform. That wasn't going to happen. Things like this take time. I bet you were worried last year about the Rockets slow start. Look how that turned out.. 1-2 = nothing
What's funny about all these "sky is falling" threads is that we've played a whopping 3 games and our stud player is hurt. It kind of reminds me of... last season. You know, when everybody wanted to get rid of JVG, break up the team, saying the TMac trade wasn't as good as originally thought - all after the first couple of weeks. Maybe you all won't be crippled when the bandwagon keeps rolling and you guys try jumping back on...
Didn't the Rockets start slowly last year? Was it 0-9 or something close to that? Is that a characteristic of JVG teams?
