    Hey guys,
i got pulled over today, this is my first ticket of this sort. i was at a stop sign and i stopped and then proceeded. all of suddent this siren goes off. the cop said i didnt stop completely and wrote me a ticket. with a court date for oct 6.

uh what should i do? theres an option on the form to plea guilty and take defensive driving or appear in front of the judge, what happends if i dont plea guilty and appear in front of him? hmm... a little confused as to what to do.

    thanks guys!

you can either plead "no contest" or "not guilty" I do believe. "no contest" will be treated the same as "guilty" without you actually admitting guilt. "not guilty" will mean you will get your day in court whereby the cop will have to prove you did not stop.

These days your screwed (out of money) either way. Plead no contest, take defensive driving, get the discount on your insurance.

I did the same thing about 2 months ago. The cop said I pulled a "California Stop and Go."

The wise-ass I am I say, "I've never been to California."

The cop begins to laugh, and gives me a warning and I'm on my way.

Just take defensive driving and get it over with.

Just an FYI, pleadind "No Contest" vs. pleading "guilty" makes absolutely no difference, unless your infraction could cause a lawsuit, ie. if there was an accident.

These days, just plead "guilty". Everyone else goes the "no contest" route.

Or plead "not guilty-jury trial". You have to sit in the courthouse all day, but they'll eventually waive the ticket.

Change the court date, whether by applying in person or in letter. Change it again if possible, and again, by all means.
