9/14/2005 - Claims that collagen extracted from the bodies of executed Chinese prisoners could find its way into European beauty products have sparked calls for immediate controls on substances used as cosmetic 'fillers'.

I find nothing wrong with this innovative use by the Chinese. If people can use animals, they should be able to use human remains.

This thread has potential of being moved into D&D.

I strongly object to taking advantage of condemned prisoners. Despite committing heinous offenses, the criminals deserve to be treated as human beings, even after they are put to death.

If "taking" vital organs from freshly executed prisoners has at least the merit of saving other people's lives (which I am still opposed to), there's no justification whatsoever to extract collagen for cosmetic purpose, and worse, for making profits.

I for one don't believe a word in Chinese officials' accounts that death penalty inmates agree to let their body parts to be recycled by the government after their executions.

Yeah, I wouldn't put too much faith on PRC consent agreements with prisoners.

To make this thread even more D & D worthy what do y'all think about letting death row inmates donate organs here in the US?

If we did that should we skip the electric chair and modify lethal injection to just aneasthitizing and removing all of the organs while the prisoner was still alive to maximize viability?

I'd be shocked this practice is happening in U.S. If anything, I believe it's the opposite. Not long ago, a judge denied a death penalty inmate's request to donate one of his organs to his own sister who was in desperate need for a transplant.

Research/medical technology is one thing, and highly debatable.

For making fatter, fuller lips is a little too sick.
