I'm probably going to piss off a lot of people by posting this here, but I don't care:

I don't know if this is the core system or the premium SKU, but it sounds like a good promotion. Unfortunately, this is getting some attention in a lot of places, so the chances of winning are less and less the more this is posted online. Oh well. If you already like Mountain Dew, you may have a good chance of winning one of these. Good luck to everyone who tries.

I hope I didn't confuse you, but you don't HAVE to get a bundle. You only have to do that if you want to order online. If you go to a local EBgames, Gamestop, etc., and reserve a system, you don't have to pay extra for stuff you don't want, AFAIK. Most of those places are probably unable to promise a launch day 360 though. I think either GameCrazy or GameRush (or both???) just recently opened up preorders in-store, so you might be able to get one there. Plus, you still have Target, Wal-mart, etc., where you can get one w/o a bundle on launch day. Some stores might force a small bundle on you, but I doubt it will be like the online bundles. It may be something like a wireless controller,a memory card, and a faceplate, or something like that, but not the system and 5 $50-$60 games.

And BTW, I read that at least one person has already preordered the Omega Bundle, and it has only been up a couple of days.

 

If you're OK with waiting a little bit, then I would hold off on a bundle and just see if I can find a retailer that can promise you a system in the 2nd or 3rd shipment. I don't know how soon MS will ship out these shipments, but I would guess the at least 2nd one would come within a few weeks. If you don't have any luck there, you can try to find one at a Target, Wal-mart, K-mart, etc., in the following weeks after launch.

If you find a bundle online that is close to what you want, but maybe 1 or 2 games you don't like, you might be able to talk your way into switching them out at a local retailer for another game(s) once you get the system. I'm not sure how much they'll be looking out for that, but I was able to do that with my PSP. You'll still end up paying a lot, but it isn't so bad if you were going to get the same thing anyways. Of course, I don't how many people were planning on getting 4-5 games at once.

 

Just a FYI, but I think the contest has already started. The site looks a little different now, and they also put up a FAQ section. I still don't see where it says if this is the core version of the premium one (although I didn't look through everything), but the FAQ does mention that you will get to pick either Madden or Need For Speed as a game to go with the system. And strangely enough, it looks like they have exclusive new screens from Madden, although it looks like the E3 build and only somewhat impressive IMO.
