Since things are kinda slow, maybe DaDakota can answer a few questions about what's new with his product: DD: What is currently Tiger's main focus in delivering Gizmondo? Can you give a summary of how E3 went for Tiger and Gizmondo? Have you gotten major reviews on Gizmondo? (links?) Are reviews mostly good, bad, or both? How (if at all) will Tiger be responding to reviews and criticisms? Google now returns 869,000 rusults in a search for Gizmondo - how much is its popularity increasing? A common concern is quantity of game titles - can you shed some light on what can be expected? Is there any truth to the rumor that Halo 3 will be running on Gizmondo? Also... I was thinking about the Gizmondo today, concerned about the savagely competitive market it is in, when I had a truly brilliant idea: Appeal to the emulator market! There is a HUGE amount of people who use the MAME emulator and other emulators to play classic games. If the Gizmondo could run the MAME emulator (or others), you would be able to tap into a market that has gone COMPLETELY untouched by other gaming companies! Every emulator-lover out there would buy a Giz! Try to rollout the Giz with Mame built in!
Hi Drox, Sure I can give an update. E3 was simply amazing, many people had no idea about our product, and it's capabilities. We are not looking to take over the hand held market - though that would be great - we are looking to become a product that everyone would need, based upon individual wants or desires. The games are coming and are getting better and better, I can not officially comment on Halo, but realize that MS basically has nowhere to put their content on a handheld device if you exclude us. Our goal as a company is not to be a "me too" product like the PSP, which is basically a hand held PS1 +, rather we want to add some new cool enhance game play to the gaming public utilizing our GPS, and camera and other features. More on this will become available as we go forward but suffice it to say that I am VERY encouraged by the new stuff we can do that other companies can not........some really neat tech that we now need to impliment properly into games. Augmented reality, gyro movement etc..etc..etc... The Gizmondo is a cool device and as the content grows, the "must have" nature will too. As it stands you can use the GPS to find a restaraunt, get weather, range finder on a golf course, track the gizmondo from a home PC etc..etc..etc.. And the Camera allows you to take photos and send them to other Giz users and text messaging as well...could a phone be far behind..... ???? No.... Always glad to update, we have a lot going on, and it will only get cooler. DD
Dammit, you can't buy one yet on this side of the pond? I see it takes a SIM card, I'm guessing you have to sign up for phone service as well? Through which providers? Please say T-Mobile maybe... The N-Gage sucked...
Here's an interesting article about Gizmondo that came out today: You guys did have some nice booth babes.
I think EA is supporting the system, but I don't think they mentioned those games. I think it was just FIFA and SSX from EA Sports, IIRC. Maybe DaDakota has a more up-to-date and detailed answer though. I'm sure EA wouldn't mind porting as many games as possible to any electronic device on the planet.
Interesting question/suggestion about your product. I've heard about it various times (most notably on this site), but one thing I have to ask is with regards to the GPS. I think it's a fantastic idea and it's a VERY valuable tool in cars. The weather thing is something I had hoped car manufacturers would implement in their expensive Navigation Systems as well. On the topic of automobiles, as your product is portable, any thought to have a docking station that could plug into the car, similar to a Delphi satellite system? It would be great using it all the time and then being able to dock it in your car (and charge it simultaneously with an adapter why not) and use it as a navigation device. Otherwise cool product!
