I've seen several fellow nerds on the board say that they like George RR Martin's a Song of Ice and Fire series. I just thought I'd let you know that I noticed on his website that the fourth installment is now finished. A Feast for Crows will be released soon. The news is here for those who are interested: http://www.georgerrmartin.com/ Just a suggestion...if you like a good story...pick up this series and give it a read.
I've been waiting for his new one for like 2 years now. I've read the other 3 2 or 3 times each just to keep the story fresh in my mind. I'm curious as to where he's going with this though, because at the rate he killing characters off he's not goiong to have a lot left at the end (I believe he has said he wants to make this a 6 book series).
Well, it's going to be at least 7 books, because the Feast of the Crows will be divided into two books. I almost forgot about this series. I read the 1st three books last summer, really liked them, but I don't tend to keep up with release infos. As for killing off people, I don't think it's a big deal. They all tend to be the older generation, which is sort of necessary to make way for the young Stark narrators.
This is a great series. Much of the fantasy genre is just horrible writing. This is one that is very well written, great characters and their development, etc. The series is way more complex than what one would expect, but not in a rambling, lost kind of a way. I'm excited about reading the new book. It also looks like maybe the book after will be ready a little sooner too because of the way this one is broken up.
