Just got back from having Chinese food....at the mall. Suffice to say my stomach feels like I just swallowed a BRICK.

What is everyone's antacid of choice for times like these? Tums and/or Rolaids just don't do it for me anymore.

The best antacid is to not eat Chinese food from the mall.

But I always hammer some Pepto..

Baking soda and water. Not tasty, but it really works.

Ginger capsules, 1 or 2 is plenty. Relief is nearly immediate (although more for overfull or sick, not so much for acid)

I get the real acid reflux, so I hit the Zantac 75 (or Wal-mart's generic equivilant).

Zantac is the way to go. Or get the little blue pill.

I see the connection. When Tex and 95 suffered an upset stomach, they took a few hits and became Rocketmen.

What about the times when you... say, are under stress, eat a large snack, then lie down, then wake up feeling like there is a molten volcano running through your stomach? Usually Rolaids will help, but sometimes it seems like something more would be needed... also, how much of this is normal and how much is not?

(Given how many people use antacids, I would guess some of this is normal, especially as we get older. :( )

Cohen's recommendation (ginger) really does work.

Sometimes a side effect of a lack of acid can cause the same symptoms, because when food breaks down in your intestines, it releases gases that rise up through you esophagus (sp??).

    So I've heard.

A good test to see if you suffer from too much or too little acid is to take a teaspoon of table vinegar (acid). If the problem goes away within seconds, you didn't have enough.

    Drink up.:)

Pepcid Complete. It's expensive and leads to a pretty serious case of the farts.....but if you want long, lasting relief and quick relief.....it's the only way to go.

You say that like it's a bad thing. :D

Is Zantac 75 over-the-counter? And would I find ginger capsules in the vitamin section?
