John Kenneth Galbraith is a well known economist who coined the phrase "Conventional Wisdom". I don't really know anything about the man or his work, but some quotations I read recently from him were especially appropriate for illustrating one of my biggest pet peeves.... which is the last desperate gasp for air when one is drowning in the D&D, "it's been this way for hundreds of years", or "we were here first", or any other excuse that relies on conventional thinking or practice. I'm certainly not saying I'm above this... I just wouldn't admit it publicly.
