Well, after searching for 2 days, my girl found her prom dress and everything, which has me really excited. I'm pumped now. I think it may be a tad too early to start planning things out, but I need to find a tux. I actually think that I might buy one off of Ebay. I think that girls get too emotional over it, though (even though I'm the one making the thread about how pumped about it I am). For instance, my girlfriend couldn't find a dress yesterday when she looked, so she was crying all night after she got done looking. She even went as far as buying herself a shirt that said, "I'm with stupid" and had an arrow pointing up. She even bought me a shirt that said the same, but had the arrow pointing to the left , and she said she'd have to walk on my left side. Gotta love that. Anyways, let's hear some prom stories. Good, bad, disastrous.
My parents buy their vehicles from the local Ford place in town (they have been doing this since the late '80s), so they have gotten to be friends with the family that runs it. Anyway, the wife of the owner of this Ford place goes every year to the local high school parking lot and watches all the people go into the high school on prom night just to see what they are wearing. Even worse, she goes with several other women to do this!
EddieWasSnubbed: Afterparty at bigtexxx's place!!! I'll bring the BEER, you bring the high school babes!!!
This isn't coming from the same guy who took his sister to the prom, is it............ Sorry, I couldn't resist taking a shot - you set it up so perfectly.
Agreed. I have no regrets about not going to mine. Did go to my ex gf's though...best thing I remember was the food.
Exactly. I guess if you happen to be dating somebody you might as well go just for the experience. But it's hardly an important event of your life. Often what happens is: people plan it months ahead of time. Get the dress, tickets, reservations, a limo with their friends. By the time of the actual prom, they've broken up with their date, but feel like they have to go ahead and go. Nice and awkward. They stay at the dance for maybe 45 minutes, decide they're bored, and go do something else with their friends. (Though, on the other hand, some people do sleep with their boyfriends on prom night, even if they normally wouldn't... whatever .) These, at least, are the stories I heard. I never went. And life went on. My senior year, I knew I didn't really have any good date prospects... not many around my school, and everyone who seemed interesting was either too old or too young... so I did a pre-emptive strike. I scheduled my senior piano recital for the day after prom. Now I had an excuse not to go no matter what. The actual night, I took a female friend (who was feeling like a part of her life had passed her by because she didn't have a prom date) to the mall so we could try on all the ugly prom dresses and make fun of the whole thing. Then I went home to memorize some Beethoven at the last minute. I don't feel like I missed anything. I went to a formal dance that fall in college anyway.
I got lucky, pun intended. Just broke up with my girlfriend at spring break. This incredible hottie just transferred schools, and I asked her to it. Best 5 minutes of my life.
All of my friends proms were held in this big fancy houses and hotels and stuff. Mine was held in a local electrical workers union hall. No wonder I hated prom. And yeah, the amount of fuss girls make over it is nauseating.
I can beat that, or at least be on par with it: My ex girlfriend's senior prom was at a Best Western in Wasilla, Alaska. I kid you not.
Just wondering how many people in the bbs glances at the topic and saw p*rn Season.... And then i did a double take....
mine was kind of interesting, I was going out with someone but we broke up a month before prom and I found out that she and my best friend were interested in each other, which is why we broke up. They started dating so I decided to ask her tall blonde best friend to prom instead. Turns out she had a thing for me so I got pretty lucky. And the best part was, at prom my best friend and I shared the limo and my ex had to watch me hook up with her hotter best friend. those were the days...
I always had a good time at Esperanza and Rondolet. It's all about having good friends you enjoy spending time with.
