    My great-grandma, who I used to be pretty close to is expected to die in the next day or so. I've only seen her once in the last two years, and there is no way that I can make it back to Lake Jackson for the funeral or anything. I wish that I could. It sucks.

    So, please do what you people do best, and keep her in your thoughts.

    Thanks.

    Something I forgot to mention was that, even at her age(I don't know an exact age...about 80 to 90), she was one of the biggest Astros and Rockets fans I know. Everytime I used to see her, I'd sit on her lap and we'd talk Rockets and Astros. She watched every single game that was on tv.

    Very sorry to hear it. It's very tough to lose a loved one and she sounds like a special woman. Prayers go out to you and your family.

    Thanks, Clutch.

    I mean, of course you begin to brace yourself for something like this when someone hits that age, especially with her in the last year or so, because she hasn't been in such great health. The good thing is that she did get to experience life; she did lead a decently long life. No matter how much you brace yourself, though, there's nothing that can actually get you ready for when the time actually does come.

    Sorry to hear that man.

    You're from Lake Jackson? I'm from Freeport.

    Thoughts with you.

    My thoughts are with you.

    my grandparents are also getting old, I don't like seeing them getting older this fast. They both had about 6 operations in the last couple of years.

    a poem for those who've moved on.......

    Funeral Blues

    Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
    Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
    Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
    Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

    Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
    Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead.
    Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
    Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

    She was my North, my South, my East and West,
    My working week and my Sunday rest,
    My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
    I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.

    The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
    Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
    Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods;
    For nothing now can ever come to any good.

    -- W.H. Auden

    That's really sad.

    My grandmother lived the last 20 years of her life in the US and when she died I was doing a semester in grad school in Asia and couldn't come back for her death or funeral. So I know how bad things are like that.

    Well, she finally succombed and passed away today at about 4 o'clock. It sucks that I can't be there for anything. The only thing I can do is send flowers and blessings, and that's what we're going to do.

    No, I'm from Magnolia, but my grandma and an aunt, and my great grandma all live in the Lake Jackson/Jones Creek area.
