If the Magic dont watch it Christie could become a cancer on that team. He has NOT taken to being demoted very well. I wouldnt be surprised if he is moved in the offseason. He will be an expiring contract next year so I am sure someone will be interested. I think it is clear that the Mobley for Christie trade didnt work. I am not sure Mobley staying there would have worked either. But the fix didnt work.

The problem to me is more the coach. They just dont stress team defense and that's what gets that team into trouble.

Joking aside, I hope the "illness" is just frustration and nothing serious.

This guy should get a worse rap than when JJ was in NO, but I doubt he will. He hasn't technically missed any games, so he's getting paid. Because he's in the lineup, he's messing up the team's chemistry worse than not participating at all. The Magic are still in playoff contention while the Hornets had no delusions.

What a ****ing overpaid baby. No wonder he doesn't wear the pants. They don't fit on him.

christie better hurry back before orlando realizes just how little they miss him. they only won by 24 without him tonight and by 22 the game before.

though in the game recap i just looked at it said he was put on IL b/c of bone spurs and weisbrod said surgery seemed likely so maybe he actually is hurt on top of being disgruntled.

I can't believe you're sticking him in with a guy who refused to report. What exactly did Christie do wrong, that he deserves "a worse rap than JJ?" He went from a perfect situation on one of the league's top teams to being bashed by Francis before he even gets a chance to play. Yet he still did his job and reported. And as Weisbrod himself said, he had no reason to believe he wasn't really sick. I would probably make myself sick over it too, if I got shafted like Christie did.

Overpaid? Christie's been underappreciated forever. There's no way he shouldn't have been DPOY a few years back. Not his fault age is finally getting the better of him, he certainly works harder than damn near everyone.

Yes, he is overpaid. At his best, he was basically a Bruce Bowen clone (better handles, worse 3pt shot). 8.2 million is about 8 times what a "defensive specialst" should be getting.

Doug Christie's wife is the defensive specialist.

Yes, I know he's overpaid now, never said he wasn't. But like I said, it's not his fault age got the better of him... there are many people in this league who are more overpaid. Heck, who in this league isn't? At least he works for every cent he makes, unlike many others.

And on an unrelated note, he may be off of Bowen's career 3pt % by 2%, but he was/is the FAR, FAR superior scorer, and the FAR, FAR better passer and ball handler.

From what I've seen, he gave up on the team when his starting position was taken away from him. My problem is when he stopped showing up to practice and started giving lame excuses. The guy is making 8 million, and he can't show up to practice and be professional about it? Does age qualify for those mystery illnesses? How does that fit Christie's reputation as a hard working team player?

Of course Weisbrod isn't going to add fuel to the fire, he's the reason Orlando is in this mess. It wouldn't surprise me if the season ending surgery Christie will undergo was a compromise so Weisbrod can save face while Christie still gets paid. That still can't explain his unexplained absenses or why he doesn't fly with his team.

The guy who refused to report did so at the expense of his paycheck. Christie is being a dick to his team because he isn't "appreciated" in Orlando. JJ could've put up the least amount of effort like Christie is doing, but money wasn't his priority. Christie wants appreciation and money. In my eyes, JJ and Christie's reactions are very similar but how they chose to handle it is the difference.
