For Calvin Booth and Allan Henderson I believe they (790am) said. They're saying this greatly enhances Milwaukee's chances of re-signing Michael Redd. Meanwhile in Dallas, this continues the trend of Mark Cuban building his fantasy team with big names.
Dumb move for Dallas I think, JHV is WAY past his prime... at this rate he may beat Chucky Brown for that team record...
What the hell is KVH going to add to the Mavs? Strange move especially considering the financial end of it as well
VAN HORN TO DALLAS http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1998910 busy busy day in the NBA... nice move for the mavs, good salary dump for the bucks
GREAT move for the Bucks! They get Henderson's expiring contract. KVH was a huge contract that is now off the books. Redd is going to be locked in with the Bucks AND they probably will have money left over to add another player. What the HELL is Dallas doing? I thought they NEEDED Henderson because they needed his contract to come off the books to lower payroll. And instead they ADD to it? Makes you AGAIN ask yourself why they didnt keep Nash if monetary issues werent a priority!?!? Where does KVH fit in with Dallas? Didnt they have that facet when they had the Dirk/Raef combo? I really dont see a fit here with Dallas. Their roster is loaded with players, where will they ALL find the minutes!?!? EDIT: Ya know, if Dallas didnt care about Henderson's expiring contract, why didnt they try to move him to New Orleans for PJ Brown? Seems like Brown would be an IDEAL backup PF/C for the Mavs, adding more toughness. And I am sure the Hornets would have loved Henderson's expiring contract. PJ Brown seems like a MUCH better fit for Dallas than KVH.
Maybe Cubes knew about the Rockets interest in Anderson and knew that if he took KVH off of Milawukee's hands they wouldn't trade for SAR and then MoT and DA wouldn't be traded for each other. All this because he knows that we're going to play Dallas in the first round of the playoffs :-D
Dallas is loaded and their bench is deep.. I think Cuban smells championship this year and is pulling in the pieces to buy one. The Mavs seem to collect alot of talent but dont have any trouble moving players around either. KVH would be nice to have coming off your bench if you dont think about how much he makes. J
Van Horn to Dallas ==> Mark Cuban continuing to add players simply for future trade bait. Next year, he'll be an expiring contract to the tune of some $16 million. This isn't any different than when they grabbed Walker. Terry is the other piece of bait on their squad (starting next yr). Evan
Here I was thinking youlived in Austin, Texas. Or do you folks get our 790am over there......internet streaming PS. What is the point of trading for KVG again? I though Booth and Henderson gave the Mavs some toughness. Oh well what do I care......strike that......we could play them in the 1st round of the playoffs.
Cuban hasn't ever blocked as far as I know. That's a great way to get enemies in this league quick. Besides, the Bucks decided they were keeping Redd (dealing James was a tip off), so that's how the Blazer deal died. They weren't about to move SAR for KVH alone. That deal was for Redd with KVH as the price. Evan
Good call. You'd like to think that they could get more for a nice expiring contract for that. I'm not as nasty about KVH as others are, but Hendu meant more to the Mavs this year than Keith meant to the Bucks. He's been useless since December when he tweaked his ankle. And the worst thing to come out of this trade deadline, although Bristow has been busy in NO, is the fact that PJ Brown wasn't traded. Brown is a class act who can REALLY help a good team, and he's wasting away down in the bayou.
everyone somehow had to know the mavs wouldn't stay silent. the trades exploded, and i think the mavs wanted in on the action. oh and the reason they didn't keep nash wasn't because of salary, it was kinda, but cuban says he doesn't like to pay tons of money to aging guards, hence the reason they got rid of van exel.
