I just picked one up at S.Gessner and Hwy 59. 8225 S Gessner Road Houston, TX 77036 Phone: 713-272-0620 The sales agent claimed they had enough to where you did not have to have them hold one for you, and I saw at least 12 on the floor. Additionally, Best Buy offers a 2-yr service agreement for $19.99. You can bring your unit back for 2 years, and you can also bring it back and upgrade to the new playstation when it comes out (you just pay the difference...and I think the new unit should be out by next Christmas). Great deal in my opinion...
wait you can upgrade it.... you pay what difference.. between 149.99 and the new unit price or some really dimished value of like 40 bucks and new unit price..
I just called Best Buy, and they told me your credit will be the full amount that you bought it for (i.e. the $149.99...not sure if tax is included). The clerk said you can either: 1) Call the service plan number, and they will send ya a voucher for it (the $149.99). Take the voucher to the store and use it as a credit. 2) Take it to the store and swap it in...pay the difference. I think the store will check to see if anything is "wrong with the unit" in scenario #2.
BEWARE......i was told the same thing when i bought my cell phone from circuit city. i tried to take the phone back in 2 years later and they said their policy has changed and i would have to send my phone in and they would send me a comparable phone instead of getting a store credit. freakin wankers

I always buy the service plan...Have only had to use it on my Sony items and Tivo once, but no problem...The only problem I've had has been with trying to return stuff with no receipt...
