ESPN Article http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1938199 "Kidd reportedly wants to be traded to a contending team in the Western Conference. But he wouldn't address whether his reason for playing after taking part in just two practices is to get dealt sooner." Would be a nice addition but kind of risky of course since the injury. They lost there PF in Martin, maybe we can trick them into taking Mo and Juwan lol.
Stack24 - did you read the snippet though? It says "contending" team I doubt the Rockets are on his list ... and I highly doubt we could approach a trade package that is close to what Minnesota, Denver, Los Angeles, Dallas or San Antonio could throw out there. We apparently couldn't even get Darrell Armstrong.
Hey clutch....right now we are contending....just for a differnt thing...it's called the lottery lol... in the snippet he didn't not clarify what the team had to be contending for =)
Kidd is no doubt one of the best PGs in the league, but... 1. Kidd just signed a 100M+ contract a year ago. Considering we just gave TMac a big contract, and have to worry about Yao soon, it's too much to take on. 2. We don't know how Kidd is going to bounce back from his injury or if his injury will be a naggin problem. Don't forget that he is also kind of old. Injuries + His Age + 100M Contract= Too much of a risk to take. Also, the Nets aren't going to take on any bad contracts, they might have to since Kidd is so expensive, but they will most likely be looking for expiring contracts.
Gucci - You're qualifiers are all valid, but to not go after Kidd would be stupid, imo. The MAJOR question is his health - but if he passes a physical, looks to be ready/etc., you have to give it a go. He is potentially the only PG in the NBA that can jump start this offense. Of course, I can't see any single player on the entire roster that New Jersey woud like - they may be interested in Taylor as a KM replacement, but Taylor is no Kenyon Martin.
I know i just through that out there, but i honestly don't think Kidd could live in a system that is half court. Every team he has been with he runs and guns and he wouldn't work here. Unless he wants to personally change his game due to his injury and move into a half court offense style PG play.
"Kidd reportedly wants to be traded to a contending team in the Western Conference." Hello!! BTW, I don't want Kidd anyway. His contract is going to come back and bite ya in a couple of years.
Why we want his wife slapping overrated cant shoot always on the IL cant win a championship self? Cassell is about 10times better than this guy.
we would make kidd look really slow in this offense he likes to run so this is not the place for him to be.we would have to fire jvg.
Dallas is the place, or Minnesota, but I think it's Dallas. Possibly Denver as well, but I think it's Dallas again. Besides he likes to run fastbreaks, and that ain't happening here.
no way we get kidd. he isn't even a good fit for us. his best talent is running a fast break which will be wasted here. he can't shoot so he will look pretty when he is left open thanks to yao or tmac being doubled and he can't hit the shot. also, we can't afford tmac yao and kidd...
haha maybe we can give a few 1st rounders to nj. they seem to like those, taking they traded away kmart for 3 future 1st round picks.
No way this could happen with NJ only interested in making "cost effective" moves. There simply isn't a package we could muster up that would be more appealing than our competition's and that NJ would look twice at.
