[War] Trump declares war on Iran for regime change

Last night up here in DFW gas prices took a big jump. When inflation was at its highest after the pandemic recovery that was not a choice by Joe Biden. This is inflation as a choice by Trump. I hope people remember that fact.

Israeli Army Radio reported that Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's son and other soldiers were wounded during military activity on the border with Lebanon.

I mean as much as Russia helping Iran pains me, everyone besides the US is being a rational actor in this conflict.

Conflict seems to be cooling off. Which is a good thing. Not sure how a cease fire or white peace can move forward though. I can’t see how this ends besides the end of Israel as a regional power and the end of US involvement in the Middle East vs the end of Iran as a regional power and Iranian involvement in the Middle East and dissolution of the Islamic Republic.
How do you white peace with an adversary who killed your head of state in a “surprise” attack?

Neither scenario seems particularly likely at this instant and the latter would be the most probable outcome of the two.

 

I’m sure that Putin has told Trump that this is not true. Trump will see no reason to not believe Putin.

Don’t rule out abandonment. If Trump decided it’s no longer worth it in his mind, I wouldn’t be surprised if he abandoned Israel and the Gulf partners and then claimed victory. The usual crowd here would treat that claimed victory as if it were real.

Pretty sure this was thought through well in advance of the war. Iran must have calculated that it cannot win militarily, but it could win politically -- by outlasting the U.S. through economic warfare.

President Donald Trump’s chief of staff, Susie Wiles, is telling his advisers to bring ideas to the Oval Office to lower gasoline prices in the wake of the U.S. attack on Iran, according to two energy industry executives familiar with the conversations.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright and other advisers focused on energy policy, including a council led by Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, “are getting screamed at to find some good news” on bringing down prices, the same executive said. “Folks are scrambling for announcements and messaging to counter the narrative” of rising prices, this person said.
