You mean EXACTLY what's Trump proposing now. They want a ceasefire and did not plan for a long term war. Energy prices skyrocketing. Gas prices jumping. Dubai Airport is on fire. You're going to see support fall off a cliff. The regime will stay in power. No changes and Americans died.

    Trump should be impeached

Western infantry and local militias were critical to capitalize on whatever goals were achieved with air strikes. Air strikes alone famously did not defeat the Taliban.

I am going on record to say US troops should not die to fight Iran or to save Israel.

Israel sentiment hasn't changed even before currants Iran regime existed, heck even Stephen Miller is a left leaning radical in comparison, they will wage wars regardless to the last US Soldier, and last borrowed penny

Exactly the point. Air resources are a great tactical tool, but wars are won (or not lost in the face of greater forces) with strategic thinking.

I should note that this is one reason Hegseth is stupendously stupid in prohibiting officers from attending some of our best universities.

Trump is proving that a competent executive, not captured by the industrial military complex, can successfully achieve military objectives without decades of spending, loss of life, corruption, and waste. He's re-writing the way wars are fought. He's LEADING the world to a better place.

Newsom blasts Trump over Iran strikes: ‘Weakness masquerading as strength’,
and meant to distract from the president’s abysmal poll numbers.

The California governor, a likely 2028 Democratic presidential contender, said Trump is trying to distract voters from his failures
“across the spectrum” and accused Trump of “doubling down on stupid” during his State of the Union speech earlier this week.

If Trump really gave a damn about Russia - he would have helped the Ukrainians more than he has.

Um, this is something worth noting...

Macron just gave a speech where he said France will increase their number of nukes for the first time in decades and offered to deploy air-borne nukes to European allies as "forward deterrence." Germany and Poland are the big names slated to get French nukes. (No word on Greenland.) The nukes will still be controlled by France, but strategically positioned around Europe. Contributions and conventional arms from other states are welcomed.

In other words, Macron, just proposed a European military alliance distinct from NATO. Whether this is a result of Iran or Russia or Trump, this is a huge deal.

meanwhile, as for Newsom's opponent for the top spot in 2028,

Vance humiliated as Trump freezes him out over Iran split

Vice President JD Vance has been left out in the cold by Donald Trump as the United States wages war on Iran.

Vance has made no secret of his skepticism over America’s involvement in foreign wars, and sources say the split has
affected his relationship with the president. As everyone else in Trump’s inner circle took on key assignments for
the unauthorized strike on Iran, Vance was notably absent.

While Vance and Rubio were vying for Trump’s attention, sources say the VP’s reticence about a conflict with Iran was seen by the president as a sign of disloyalty.

As a result, he has been frozen out of the planning.

    I really don't think so.

I think this is potentially a massive mistake.

The division in the Middle East is largely Saudi against Iranian and Israel as a wedge.

Iran was kept in check by Iraq - and we destroyed that balance when we killed Hussein.

Then we doubled down by leaving Iraq, and now that country is largely controlled by Iran.

Israel doesn't like that Iran has a direct bridge of extremists through half of the Middle East or more now.

Israel and Saudi are closer - because both are highly controlled governmentally - and have more stability.

We have seen what happened when Syria fell - the Middle East is worse for it.

The reality is that Iraq is worse off now as well.

Iran is worse off than in 1953 when we forced a regime change.

We currently are dealing with the Saudi's being upset we have not stopped more violence in an area of the world that has tried very hard to insulate itself from the violence in the rest of the Middle East.

There are massive power vacuums opening up in the Middle East right now, involving hundreds of millions of people and no one knows the outcome.

What will the response be from Turky? What will the Saudi's do?

There will likely be a lot of civilian poverty, and unlike the Syrian and Iraqi wars, no one in the West is going to take them in.

For an administration that ran largely on no war and focus on Americans and America -- this is a really odd response. It feels like Trump and his administration have figured out how hard changing things domestically or through trade and it is easier to just go into other nations, bomb them, depose their ruler and distract everyone.

This is now two leaders from other nations, not even bordering the USA that we have taken or killed their leader in what? 6 months.
