I just want him traded at this point. When they watch a coach put him in the position he excels in, and not playing to his weakness, there's going to be a lot of clowns on this forum.
hopefully other GMs fall for or get enamored with stuff like this when the Rockets have him on the trade block
What position is he in that hinders him from making 5 foot bunnies and not being the worse finisher at his position?
To play like that big of a klutz he has to be injured -- anyone that uncoordinated and fully healthy wouldn't make an NBA roster.
VanMeat, no VanMeat, Jalen, no Jalen, Udoka, no Udoka, bum ankle, good ankle, EuroBall, no EuroBall… Can you spot the outlier seasons or numbers? His defense was held up by playing double bigs/Steven Adams. Ime Udoka asked about Alperen Sengun getting hunted on defense: “It's been the case since I've been here. So no different there.” Stephen Silas on Alperen Sengun’s defense: "He has been early in his pick&roll call, and the terminology is different than he’s probably ever had before, so him being early in those calls in important as far as our reaction into the ball and then our protection behind the ball.." Silas said he had to take Sengun out b/c he couldn’t guard Giannis at the 5. Silas wasn't happy with a Sengun turnover. Brought Fernando into the game, had words with Sengun and followed him down to the end of the bench. Stephen Silas on what he wants to see from Alperen Sengun defensively: "The main development for him is the fouls ... You want him to be aggressive but not the fouling." "We need everybody to give effort on the defensive end," said Silas. When asked if that's why Alperen Şengün didn't play the 4th, said Silas, "Yeah, I mean, they went at him with every pick-and-roll. Every single one." Stephen Silas on Alperen Sengun tonight: "The switching is more difficult when Alpi is on the floor. That makes the defense a little more difficult, against this team in particular." Silas on Sengun: “There’s more to it than just the spectacular plays that he makes. There’s the plays at the top of the floor when we’re a little bit disorganized. There’s the defensive part. There’s a lot that he’s good at, but he also has to learn." Silas on Sengun "Last year he was thinking "score, score score". This year [...] he's thinking if he can score quick, he'll score quick otherwise he'll make a play for his teammates." Asked Silas why Alperen Sengun appears singled out defensively: "We've had conversations about it. It's not like he's being punished at all. I don't want him to put so much pressure on himself if there's an adjustment made and it's one game or two games out of 82."
My standard was: The Heat have 3 main factors. The personnel, the scheme, and the coach. Most teams wont have all 3. But after looking at it more, it's lot more volatility game to game in Sengun good & bad games. Defense hasnt been as bad as it looks, but the offense has
I'm seeing the regression more now. Sengun started good on offense, but been steadily dipping. I'm not quite sure Sengun is "soft". I don't think he's Isaiah Stewart hard, but I don't think Sengun is "weak". Sengun has balled out vs premiere centers in the game. He didn't shrink. Something might not be "right" with him mentally, physically, even team philosophically Or he might be a prime example of what Moreyball indicated is the ineffectiveness of the low post game after all. That maybe the league caught up Sengun, and Sengun has no counter. This might be like an Alperen CJ Stroudgun, where he showed the great potential. But a "who he actually is" might not be enough to keep investing in. And maybe do a trade high Domas Sabonis style for a potential Haliburton or something
